Best of 2025 - Post your favorites!

It’s that time of year again! Last years thread opened me up to so much great music I would have never found. So let’s do it again. What track/ep/album released this year could you not stop listening to?

My pick is “Spit” by Gelli Haha. Was bumping this all summer. Just my kind of weird

Kerala Dust Echo Of Love album. Their performance in Montreal on November 8 was probably the best show I’ve seen in my life. The Band and the crowd were in Unison mode.

This is a great album from OTON, not exactly sure how to categorize it but it seems to pull from multiple different strains of club music and ambient at the same time.

I’m following Ren for a long time now. That guy is the talented modern musician. His music hits many people. Now he did a collab with the skinner brothers, and boy, what a musical journey that is. Best artist(s) since a while! Best of 2025 for me.

Enjoy this freaking amazing song.

without a doubt:
False Negatives by Sole Massif:

It has so many layers of so many things that I love. Dark Ambient, Burial-like shifts and off the grid composing, glitchy textures, massive and sometimes symphony-like textures.
I really got obsessed and got the whole discography afterwards, where every single release is a world of its own.

I’m going to go with @Jeanne and her crimson parallax EP. Her output and contribution never ceases to amaze and is always an inspiration.

Came across this band earlier this year. I thought their sound was very east coast canada 90s vibe and it turns out they are from Nova Scotia! Very fun👍🏽

This only came in on Friday. But it was worth the wait. My favorite album of 2025.

Yes, I’ve been listening to Voices From The Lake on repeat the past couple days. Great stuff. Somehow scratches my 90’s ambient and 00’s minimal melodic itches while sounding like its own modern thing. Been a while since something I listened to randomly grabbed me like this.

Rarely Do I Dream by Youth Lagoon is no doubt my album of the year:

I already loved the previous album’s (Heaven is a Junkyard) sound, Trevor is clearly in his prime as a musician and makes the best music he has ever made. But this year‘s album had an extra element that made it special to me: he dug out videotapes his father made during his childhood and sprinkled audiobits of these throughout the whole album. That gives the album an emotional depth that gets me every time from the first seconds of the opener till the end.

On a more technical level: I freakin love the drum and vocal sound and the mix in general!

Their live show in June was also truly incredible, even though it was only three people. If you have the chance to see them, do it!

This popped up in Apple Music and quickly became our summer anthem hanging out on the deck!

This is the funkiest, catchiest song of the year for me. Sums up the way I’ve been feeling about society.
