Bastl Softpop 2

Lovely little case and nice play! Cool use of the Roland P-6 for interface and delay. Sound like a great sample feeder.
Can the P-6 also trigger the Softpop?

Thanks @Bignill !

I’m trying stuff now!

Sync Out from P-6 → SP2 Sync In works as expected. They share clock timing.

MIDI Out from P-6 → SP2 MIDI In starts transport when the P-6 sequencer is started.
I’m not sure I’m doing it right for controlling the pitch via MIDI. I’m trying the different modes described in the SP2’s manual and can only get the sample pads to trigger different pitches, not the keyboard mode.
Never mind me, had to make sure I had the GRANULAR track selected, then keyboard mode on and it plays the SP2’s pitches! Easy cheesy.

For kicks and giggles, I routed P-6’s Mix Out → SP2’s Input, then patched DYNAMICS → TRIG in. Triggers as expected with enough input level!
Then tried the same into its TRANSPOSE input and got nice and weird making it jump up in pitch by hitting a sample on the P-6.
Shoot, PWM is great too!

So yeah, it seems there are a handful of ways they can connect creatively.

Great! Thanks for taking the time to test. My mind also thought about crosspacthing

Oh thanks for asking and engaging. You gave me a good handful of ideas!

This is my only semi modular and I have barely gotten used to patching interesting things.

A nice SPII update!

  • Easier sync with desktop gear with timeout on the SYNC input
  • TRIG/GATE recording
  • Direct step editing

Pretty easy to do and features a bunch of improvements and bug fixes.
