Anyone see this Nats @ SD game last night?
If this were a post season game, I think Disney would have bought the rights to make a movie. Cinderella story from the relief pitcher’s first MLB at bat.

Nice.
Especially compared to “Wrigleyville”
Coulda been worse for the Cubs. I think the Giants’ city connect jerseys were the biggest letdown of the series so far.
Funny enough - I thought I have read the opposite. That is, that the Giants city connect were popular. That may be only from a merch. perspective as the unis themselves are terrible (in my opinion). The “fog” effect on the chunkier numbers makes them illegible. Not an issue for me, as I don’t ever watch the Giants.
@AdamJay That inflatable trashcan though… savage.
“bang bang change-up!”
Went to dodgers giants game last night. 5 runs in the 1st then a snoozer after that. Was interesting to see how much the defense shifts around these days. I remember when only Bonds got that treatment.
Time for players with reasonable speed to practice their bunting fundamentals. Bunt yourself a few doubles and you probably won’t get shifted so much.
Wow. Lots of big deadline moves this year. Gonna be an exciting second half.
Cheers to the Jays for beating Cleveland this evening, and giving my Sox a 9.5 game lead in the AL Central.
That AL wild card race is heating up nicely, too.
Crazy trades last week for sure. Bummed the Sox lost Madrigal but Kimbrel is such a huge get that it was worth it. I was ambivalent about losing Heuer, but he seems to be doing good on the North side.
Glad they’re finally back home. I hope they can keep rolling. Some tough teams waiting in the NL too.
That Jays Mariners game last night tho

The White Sox were kind enough to put the Yankees through a combine harvester and now the Jays went and lost two in a row.
Brutal. While it worked out for my guys it doesn’t feel right winning like that.
Been a wild couple days in MLB for sure.
Sox have two more vs Yanks this weekend and will try to shave off a couple more for your wild card race
But unfortunately the Red Sox have home batting practice vs Baltimore this weekend
So how many other on here still have their cards from childhood? Follow up, how many of you were shattered when you realized all those $50 Frank Thomas Topps Gold cards from the early 90s are now worth $1? Don’t get me started on Upper Decks “Limited” series.
Funny timing. I just got back from visiting my dad and he had a box of my old baseball cards. I doubt it’s all of them and I haven’t thoroughly looked through them yet but I did shuffle through them and found my ken Griffey jr rookie card!
I don’t really care that, with very few exceptions, cards aren’t worth anything. It’s just neat to see my old cards.
Yeah it brings back memories of sitting on the floor, sleeving the cards, investigating their stats, and imagining what pose I’d be striking once I hit the big leagues. I think for me it was the pure shock as to how much they had depreciated in value. From an economist perspective it’s interesting to see how the increase in obtainable supply (internet/ebay), has so affected card value, and how wrong Beckett pricing catalog had it.
Damn Yankees
