Hi guys,
Was thinking of getting the A4mk1 for some extremities, like death industrial/power electronis/harsh noise and so on.
Unfortunately all I can find on this machine on the internet is either edm, techno and generally speaking beat driven music or some atmospheric ambient stuff.
The closest I’ve seen is Jeanne and Blush Response, but that is beat music too.
So, how the A4 fare in that specific realm? Do you have some audio or video examples on that?
Thank you ![]()
It excells at harsh noise and power electronics. Give me an hour to find the old files, but I’ve got some recordings of it going apeshit knocking about on a hard drive somewhere.
Also, @ARVE will probably have some insight here too.
Here’s one.
And most of this album was done with an A4
Thank you man, that’s the kind of stuff I’m looking for!
Of all the Elektron devices, I think the A4/AK is the best for noisy textures and extreme sounds. The @Fin25 post above has probably the most varied examples of what it can do, but here are a few single patches I’ve made (mostly emulating guitars.)
Internal effects only, monophonic.
Today I learned of a musical genre I’ve never heard of before…After listening to the example, the name is very apt!
Thanks for all the replies guys! It seems that the A4 is well capable of doing some nasty noises ![]()
Sounds great when all played together as well
I use Machinedrum for this and I think it’s excellent for industrial noise. With Control All changing the same or different parameters for all 16 tracks it can go absolutely bonkers very quickly. Still, I’ve kept it resonably ordered on my album.
A4 has lots of ways to get harsh. You can FM both oscs with the synced lfos. You can AM the 2 oscs against each other. There’s the feedback osc. You have 2 filters that can go into self oscillation with a drive in between them and they can be FM’d from the synced lfos. Then the delay has its own drive and bandpass filter and can go into high feedback. Add it all together with plocks and four voices and things can get crazy.
Thank you for mentioning me, Fin. I was on holiday and therefore unable to share my files. Here is an excerpt of a jam I recorded only with the Analog Keys.
This is bonkers:
