Arturia DrumBrute Impact

It’s great for that! I heavily consider buying another one all the time. I miss the immediacy going to the Digitakt.

Is awesome, it’s the most fun device I have to jam. It’s worth kflow is so well designed… the mute and solo functions are awesome. Get one and enjoy!

I just want to follow up on my previous query now I’ve put my hands on one.

I must agree that it’s just a brilliant fun and creative experience to play with this device.

It feels like a real instrument that you can get your hands on and enjoy and it’s full of thoughtful quality of life decisions which make it really enjoyable to jam with and have fun.

On one hand you might worry that it’s not flexible or versatile compared to some others, but that’s not really what I feel this is for. In reality Bitwig destroys any drum machine a thousand times over in terms of power so inspiration is actually what matters and this has it.

Hey @Claid, any plans for a DBI sample pack in 2024?

I’d love to have a go on this, and the original Drumbrute. Not tried either of them! It’s only a matter of time.

‘Who the fuck needs song mode’ 100%.

Sounds really good. This one slipped past me.

I hope it’s better to ask here instead opening a new thread.

Maybe someone knows this:

Is it possible to change midi channels and midi notes that are sent without having to use Arturia‘s midi Control Center?

If it’s not possible I really hate the idea that at some point in future when it will not be supported anymore one would lose this functionality. And even now I would hate to be forced to use a (windows or Mac) computer for these basic configurations. Please someone tell me it is possible to change this stuff on the device even if it’s fiddly with that mini screen.

Hm, I didn’t see another method I’m afraid. Then again, I’m only just starting with all this. In itself it is a fun machine, relatively straightforward to use.

Yeah, those are a nice change of pace, color-wise.
I much prefer it over the original grey at the moment, for no reason whatsoever.

Draped it in PolyBrute 12 livery? Although it looks quite nice, I’m not a fan of that off-white. For some reason always gives me the impression that the sun has yellowed it.

Looks cool, but I kinda feel that Arturia has too much of a habit of dusting off instruments or controllers they haven’t updated in 5+ years, dressing them in new digs but without any other changes, and selling them for full price…Feels pretty lame…

This criticism is coming from the perspective of someone who really likes the Arturia gear I own.

thank you
I just don’t get it why one would make these things dependent on a computer.

Otherwise it seems to be one of the nicest easy to use drum machines to sketch out some song forms to start a song.

This looks sleek. I love the DBI and have used it a bunch on recordings that I’ve actually released (as opposed to tracks just sitting on a drive…) But the sounds get kinda same-y after a while, especially the snare and hats. Wish they updated the sound palette with this release as well and gave us something weirder and more FM-like. I’d love a knob per function model:cycles like machine that had some of the DBI features.

Why’d you have to post this? Now I’m out $300. It is a handsome little unit though…

Agreed—if they do this, I wish they would at least throw down a fun firmware update, maybe:

  • Increase the range on the FM tone.
  • Loop like usual, but with pad+looper to roll.
  • Better idea about recording color pads.
  • Anything, really.

Can you point me to some of these tracks? I’d love to check them out :slightly_smiling_face:

Yeah…I have no experience whatsoever with music theory, musical instruments, etc…but in a short time I was banging out some nice drum tracks with added randomness, while keeping pace with the MicroFreak.

Yeah, happy to. This whole album has a bunch of Drumbrute Impact on it. (also features Jon Natchez of the War on Drugs on baritone saxophone)

This track is all Arturia- Drumbrute Impact and a Microfreak, basically a one take jam.
