Arturia DrumBrute Impact

These videos and demos got me gassing first for a dbi, then i realized i don’t like the way it sounds,…so i went on a mad search for a better drum machine that is smaller and has midi out so i can stick on my octatrack pedalboard and control it with the ot.

Then i remembered that my a4 is just sitting there, setup on it’s own little pedalboard. and it’s an awesome drum machine as @Unifono says.

Another video. Nice review actually

I’m also not sold on the sound. And honestly, I think I am not able to go back to a sequencer without p-locks any more

This reminds me a lot of this little bugger: https://youtu.be/UO5X-FG7AUg

I ve listened to every Demo now and the DBI has imho the same Problem Like 808/909…it Sounds Just Like a DBi-808ish. Thats good and Bad at the Same time.

The subtitles were good through.

Listen to a demo of the Impact, and then listen to this immediately afterwards. I think the Impact doesn’t quite get that round punchy Rolandy TR sound, but has its own thing going on.

Martin spends quite a bit of time, and has some fun, with the FM voice starting at about 6:20 in. Reinforces finalform’s wish (#26) for a drum machine with the kick and 7 voices of that FM engine.

I think the other thing unavoidable from this video is the playability of the DBI. A lot of bang for the buck if that’s how you intend to use this box.

Nice review, it sounds really good and the price/features ratio is superb. It makes a decent MIDI controller as well I understand.

I’m just about to get one of these.

I struggle to get into live jamming with electronic gear and fall back on composition in the DAW.

I’m excited about something that’s what you see is what you get, knob per function, jammy and raw.

From what I’ve seen from Look Mum No Computer and Bad Gear it looks awesome.

I’m interested in any tips or suggestions of good parings (I have. T-8, 707 and a Polyend Tracker to try with it)

Get a Behri TD-3, sync it to the DB, randomise its patterns… boom, 5 hours go by in the blink of an eye.
