Awesome, thank you! I’ll have a listen this evening.
I know it’s not strictly what you asked for but in 2022 I released an EP on vinyl that primarily used the original DrumBrute. It ended up doing quite well.
Here is track 4, as it is a pure DrumBrute (and Minibrute 2) live jam. It got a lot of flack, the DrumBrute, but it was my first piece of hardware and I loved it!
I still miss it!
@maymind_trax & @Area_808 Really enjoying hearing what both of you did with the Impact. Those tracks demonstrate the punchiness of the drums, and the (to me) pleasingly cuttingly metallic hats/cymbals. I agree it has a sometimes frustratingly limited sound, but it is also a pleasingly unique sound, the analog nature of which feels alive and inspiring. And it is elegant and versatile to program.
I used the DrumBrute Impact as the sole drum machine for this entire EP (last track has no drums), for anyone interested in hearing it in an experimental instrumental rock context.
I really value the pads, too, which I used a lot to play in more linear parts which ended up sequenced by the DAW. I think given the sound, features, affordability and—hopefully—continuing availability and durability—it may eventually attain some sort of classic status.
That’s cool, I like track 5 the best! (and 7 is a great outro)
The cymbal on that DrumBrute is really 606-like!
This is great!
I seem to recall Four Tet saying on a episode of Tape Notes that he’s used it on a few things.
He definitely is/was an original DrumBrute user, as I saw him using it during a stream. Not sure about the Impact.
Thank you!
Yes, very good stuff. Thank you for sharing! ![]()
Thanks very much! Track 5 is my favorite too.
I agree on the 606 resemblance of the Impact, for me the hats as well as the cymbal.
Love this! Is it just a new colorway or are there different features from the original?
Arturia doesn’t ship new features with new colorways. They have a strict bug-for-bug compatibility policy when reskinning their existing products.
(I own the black DBI)
Just a new colorway.
I still might get it! I’ve got the pale yellow microbrute

I like this. You have a unique sound. “There” was a particular standout for me but it was all groovy. Nice work!
Thanks very much! ![]()
What a beautiful instrument. Imagine all manufacturers started giving us some color again. Luckily, I know it would just sit around, so I don’t have to buy it.
