I got a rytm quite recent, and as I saw the cv input, I picked out my old sq-1 and connected it to the cv.
The sq-1 has two cv outs 8 steps each, or 16 steps on one cv out. If you just use one active step you can kind of use it as control knob. It also has random, and other play modes. Try it if you have on around, quite fun. And som extra modulation options, or maybe macros.

I wish there was an option to have the envelopes retrigger from zero at least on the synth machines. Surely that wouldn’t require much additional memory or processor use.
I’d like to see an increase the resolution of the delay times . Currently the jumps between delay times are too crude.
When you create a new project and you want to load a bunch of samples you’ve already recorded, you select a sample and choose “load to project” and hit yes, it would be nice if it stayed where you are in the list of samples rather than jumping back to the top. That way you could just cruise down the list and choose a bunch of sounds you might want to use without having to constantly scroll back down and figure out where you left off.
you can get around the lack of a second LFO with slide trigs in many cases.

Stop it
My biggest one is removing or fixing sound selection menu from double pressing on the Track button. I’m using Track+Pad for silent track switching a lot and it randomly will popup the sound menu instead. So annoying!
Second: switchable trig modes like on the octatrack(mute/chromatic/scene/etc), so you can have mute or scenes on trigs and pads in performance mode at the same time. Should be easy to implement.
And it should reflect the current swing/shuffle setting. That’s how I program hihats and shakers on the MPC all the time.
So… what are the odds Rytm gets a new sample machine at some point? Grid? Is that any good?

Can Rytm save mutes for patterns or kits? That would be so helpful for performing
No. You can select mutes for each step of a song, though. I find this a little fiddly but it works. One workaround is to use some of the scene slots to do different combinations of mutes (and of course you could also combine with other sound changes). But if you don’t switch them right on the beat, you might cut off some of your sounds mid-note which sounds untidy compared to muting the sequencer track.
in song mode it can, you can prepare and manually switch rows instead of loading patterns
@alechko Sorry what do you mean by switch rows? Switch individual tracks?
no, the rows in song mode correspond with a pattern or chain of patterns (which inherently belongs to a certain kit), repetitions of the row and the mute states for each track once the row is activated, so you can switch the patterns or chains of patterns by switching the current row instead of changing pattern directly, you can also set it up so that several rows will have the same pattern with different mute states.
look into the manual [12.2.3 ADDING REPEATS AND MUTES] and you’ll probably find a way to utilize it, you also need to mind that if you have the master length set to infinity the rows won’t change, at least that’s what I remember. just try the song mode, you have a dedicated button for it so once you figure out the flow it’s as easy as switching patterns from the bank/pattern buttons.
What’s good, everybody?
I was just searching the AR topic around how one would go about improving the auto input levels on the Rytm; no dice.
Is there an easy way to boost the input signal? It seems like something I’ve read others say is a downsize of this instrument, but it’s been a while since I tried it.
Thanks for any direction if it’s possible.
Another way to do this is to use a performance pad to turn down the AMP on the tracks you want to mute.
The performance pad will stay engaged if you keep holding it while moving to another menu (like Mute or Chromatic) before letting the pad go. Then you can save the kit in that state with the performance engaged, so that it will already be engaged when you load the kit/pattern next time.
Pretty much the same as using a Scene like @Anigbrowl described, but maybe with a smoother transition in/out to help avoid pops or clicks.
