Just got this. Love the motorized controllers. Gonna ditch my 2 Reloops and get a Rane one also.
I recently got a Rane Performer too; it’s still unopened though. I ended up selling my Pioneer REV7 for it. I’m really impressed with the stems workflow and am starting to DJ again after a lengthy hiatus.
I’m also hoping the platters feel better for scratching; the REV7 isn’t bad though. I was planning on eventually posting routines here:
Nice… yeah the only thing that really pissed me off was the fact that I returned my rane one when this came out and I was using my 12.9" IPAD PRO M2 and then I get this thing and find out it’s not class compliant, so I was forced to use Serato instead of Algoriddm, and couldn’t use my Ipad. Recently I switched to Virtual DJ as Performer was just added to supported list. I find serato very difficult to get loops set correctly. VDJ, like DJ Pro does this automatically without having to adjust the grid, which is awesome.
So now I’m using a touchscreen PC, which I don’t like (Mac and Ipad guy) but it’s an I7 with 16G and SSD, so it’s working out ok. I just wish I could get into more of the DJ side of things, but I suck at scratching and literally any spare moment I have, is spent learning the art of scratching.
I like this. Any info?
Yes indeed. This is my friend Mike, Rival Self. Not only an absurdly talented turntable tickler but a phenomenal human being. His album is on Soundweight and can be purchased here:
Yes I like the vibe he is chasing down. Will check out the album. Cheers
LOL. That’s getting desperate, but I dig it.
I haven’t managed to get it setup in a way that I can actually cut with properly yet but haven’t spent much time with it so I’m not writing it off yet
I had one of the Bluetooth faders before and used it with an app but was difficult scratching on glass
Wish someone had another stab at something like QFO, like direct drive, quality parts. I really want something with a smallish footprint to just scratch. Tried pretty much all these affordable portable turntables, but just never liked them because it never felt as a good as a direct drive.
Closest would be the sc500
The Mixfader? They’re pretty decent and I totally agree about the feeling of the touch screen being not conducive to scratching, but you can use them as basic DVS devices if you’ve got a Serato control record. I’ve got a 7" on and have used it with a portable turntable that has USB (connected straight into a Camera Connection Kit on an old iPhone 6). It works surprisingly well!
The only problem with the SC500 is that it doesn’t have a motorised platter, which makes it take some getting used to. Some people have managed to overcome that but their solution doesn’t seem to have been made available to the general public, which feels a bit out of step with Andy making all the SC1000/500 assets entirely open source…
Maybe a different area of DJing as he didn’t do much hard scratching that I’ve seen, but I can’t help but link to some Jeff Mills. To this day, one of the most dynamic performers on turntables.
Feel bad for my boy Shortcut, hope he gets better after suffering from stroke. Hope he can get back to scratching again.
What? When did this happen? Hope he recovers. Strokes are serious business.
I think I’m going to preorder this to dip my toes in.
I literally just watched that. Haha!
