Analog Heat getting some new tricks?

Yeah, it’s got to be firmware, but because of the enthusiasm behind the words, I highly doubt it’s just going to be a master compressor (though it would be welcome all the same, ofc). I still feel like there’s got to be something else planned for the device. Additional analog FX would be awesome, or the ability to stack two or more of the distortion circuits in series or parallel or even more forms of degradation with tape or vinyl style wow, flutter or other time/pitch based effects

I just hope its something more exciting than OB getting out of beta

Any idea if it will also be available for Mk1’s ? I mean it’s exactly the same hardware up to the screen, right?

Oh, I have no knowledge about what’s what. I’m just speculating on the possibilities. But given Elektron’s reluctance to make older machines obsolete, I’d guess mki’s will also get an update. Same thing happened for the OT, A4 and in some respects the AR mkii firmware updates.

On another note, I was really hoping someone who went to the event would spill the beans or at least give us a clue, but everyone’s keeping it mum

Guys this whole thing sounded like a good promo for AH since I’m guessing it’s struggling to much the sales of DT or ern DN. Me personally like many of you think that the Heat needs one more killer feature. And then we’ll all go and buy it. But for what it can offer right now at this price range, it cannot compete with DT or DN.

It’s a hard pill at $800 USD. Most people look at that and wonder why they would pay more than a DT or DN for just a distortion effect. You really have to use it to see the value of the circuits, filter, eq, envelopes, and LFO as it relates to your workflow.

For me it was a zero regret purchase from the second I jammed an FM pad from the DN into the Enhancement circuit with a bit of LPF + resonance and movement from the LFO. Or HPF over a kick with a res bump in the sub bass + drive.

I wish it were cheaper so people would stop sleeping on it.

ok blah blah, but Analog Heat MKI is still perhaps the purchase I’m most pissed of in my career of shit buyer

It’s a firmware update that allows firmware updates to be installed 25% faster!!!

Why’s that? I’m not a fan of the Analog Heat, so interested to know other opinions.

Ooh - gonna try that one. Thanks.

I wonder … I had a go at an MKII at the time, and there’s a lot going on visually that separates it from the MKI. Not in function, but in how it’s displayed. It made a bigger difference than I expected.

It wouldn’t surprise me if whatever’s coming, won’t work on the MKI. There’s a lot you can do with the MKII display, that you can’t on the MKI.

Just wondering, what’s not to be a fan of? Excellent distortion and drive circuits, awesome multi-mode filter, great EQ, and lots of other little tricks. Even if you’re not a fan of the price, how could you not be a fan of the device?

If a BMW is too pricey for you buy a Fiat.
It’s that simple!

Not to beat that old horse, but the price is more than fair as well, assuming most of the Heat’s features have a real value for you. If you get it just for one or two of its tricks, then yeah, it’s pricey. But if you get it for the package, it’s really competitive in price too.
