Analog Heat +FX Feature Requests Thread (AHFX FR)

I would like to have a additional waveshaper for all the available LFO waveshapes on all Heat products. Especially so that the stepped random shape can be anything between sine to pulse, and can act more like a noise/slew combination control would work. Gentle instead of hard stepped randomness can be so useful. Could ask for a additional random pulse shape but a waveshaper for all waves could be even more fun.

Macro Control knob section MUST happen!

Also would like some kind of function + knob combo to temporarily set parameters - or a fast undo / revert to save state combo.

Would love a way to select tempo divisions for delay time without having to memorize all the values and what they map to.

Would love a way to get a finer resolution on the knobs like hold a button and turning the knob makes it slow down.

Would love a way to manage screen brightness.

Would love a screen saver to turn the screen even dimmer or off.

+1 to MIDI pitch and gate events being used as modulation sources

Probably impossible but wish that EQ and filter could be split from heat/distortion.

Midi Reset / trig of the LFOs!
This is such an important feature to be missing for a machine that accepts midi sync.

I find that the current best method is still not as slick as on other devices. The function key on other Elektrons snaps the encoder to all those musical delay values. The settings (cog) button will help you find and snap to those musical values, but not exclusively those… it acts more like a coarse control on the numbers, jumping in integer steps. But it makes finding the tempo related marked values better.

I’d like to see a mode which is more like the function type behaviour. Perhaps with

[Cog] + {press}{turn}(enc)

So the key values are found exclusively

Or any method to locate these values more quickly

echoing some great ideas above:

midi note trigger/control in would be useful, with assignable keytracking
freely assignable 4 parameter performance macro is a must (8 with page 2?)
a reset preset/undo key combo would be sweet for performance.
randomise page params for sure (maybe randomise block order!?)
the dual mono 4 block 2 parallel flow idea is interesting as an aux send fx unit. start feeding each side into each other could lead to delirium.

exciting to imagine what digital FX will arrive down the line, in terms of using it as an end of chain mastering unit some digital parametric EQ/digital filter and other scientific sound shaping tools would be handy. assigning the envelope follower to chosen frequencies positions gain/Hz/Q would be great.

If we had some kind of real time frequency analyser that can flatten/enhance the spectrum at user defined ranges would be next level (thinking Gullfoss-esque)

and if there’s scope to introduce FFT spectral freezing/shifting, use the control inputs to create a spectral mask for your inputs…?

I think it would be cool if Elektron partnered up with a few other brands specialised in FX and getting some of their algorithms in the AHFX.

So instead of needing all these different boxes with effects we could use 1 multi-fx box with stuff from all kids of brands. I believe this is more common in the world of modular but Elektron could maybe do the same here.

on the filter page 1 the FREQ (0-127) value is reported twice, could one reading be an approximate Hz value? perhaps this is hard to accurately portray.

Gate. Attack. maybe could be pseudo modulated…

when selecting presets could NAV push be used to select or perhaps CUE preset, then on page exit preset activates?

i’m pro animations, and having experienced SP404 one page of 6 FX choices found using the nav to choose more confusing than having them separated. in the heat of the moment it’s far clearer (for my simple mind at least) to have the pages separate so i know exactly where i am without needing to double check a selection pane.

Faster nav to sub-pages - I am primarily using the AHFX for an external FX processor while performing live. One step in particular that slows down performative adjustments is clicking through to sub-pages within each block. The yes button enters the first page of a block but not subsequent pages. To do that you have to move over to the FX button and press that.

Example - For delay or reverb, the level and other important parameters are on the second page, resulting in a secondary move to reach over and click FX after clicking Yes to open to block from Flow.

Suggestion - hitting yes a second time goes to the second page (if there is one). Currently it does nothing if you hit it a second time. Seems easy enough.

Note - I DO adjust levels quickly by holding down flow and using the 4 pots (and push-turn nav nob). This is VERY helpful but still does not nav quickly to pg. 2 of blocks for quicker fine adjustments.

any future update additional digital FX fantasies people are having?

A chromatic pitch shifter could be fun. (just saw Alex Balls MXR M-129 vid  )
Ring mod
I’m still keen on some parametric EQ.
a digital filter?
spectral stuff…

what i miss the most is a digital filter to put BEFORE the distortion. this would enable the AH+ to mimick tons of pedals (tubescreamer, muff and so on).

this, on all elektron devices! something i really, really miss …

gate page 2

attack, + key follow CV input level with its own attack and decay.

Multiple destinations for Control Inputs. I’d love to be able to plug in a simple passive expression controller (there are lots of mini expression knobs/sliders around which are super cool, because they don’t need “power”) and would like to be able to increase e.g: delay send, reverb send, bit reduction etc to have a “build up” knob i can use for transitions between patterns.

as a temp workaround, i’m wondering if it makes sense to connect the same expression controller to both of the inputs with a splitter to be able to control both A and B with a single knob, assigned to 2 different destinations

EDIT: apparently it’s possible using a stereo splitter How To: Control Multiple Strymons with one Expression - YouTube

EDIT 2: just tested hooking up an expression fader to control inputs A and B using a stereo Y splitter cable and i can confirm you can control 2 destinations at a time without a problem! imagine we can have 2 destinations per expression, that means you can control 4 destinations with a single fader. poor man’s (or actually rich man’s) octatrack fader???

+1 for a pitch shifter in order to be DOOM as Ruina Versio.

Let me just stop you there

Two from me after having had the unit for about 20 minutes :slightly_smiling_face:

  1. When you select a block in Flow and hit FX it should take you to the first parameter page for the block that has been selected.

  2. Pressing and twisting the delay time knob should cycle through the common clock divisions (1/64, 1/32, 1/16 etc) which it doesn’t do right now which is really frustrating. It tries and fails - it goes 1/128, 9, 17, 25,33,41,49,57,65 etc instead of 8, 16, 24, 32, 40, 48, 56, 64 etc
