Analog Four MKII out now!

Message sent. They make DJ stands too, which is where I got the idea.

So, I answered my own questionā€¦

I got a MKII on Saturday around 3PM, and I had a live gig scheduled later that same night.

I transferred a full project over to the new machine, spent about an hour tweaking my patches to accommodate the overdrive changes, and that was it.

Everything worked flawlessly.

The sound of the MKII is really something. Great character, and it cuts through a mix really well. It sounded awesome out on a decent size club system.

Especially when MkI has free overbridge, and MkII has $90 overbridge premium above the base costā€¦

Anyway, Iā€™m one who went with the reduced price A4MkI and a Heat instead, and am loving itā€¦

Here is the whole rig in its current state. Extra electronic mount, awaiting RYTM MKII

Cool setup, but how do you actually play the keyboard on the bottom shelf?

I park my ass on the nice warm low couch in my family room for the long ass Winter. My finished studio in the basement is just too cold and dingy in the Winter even though it has heat. The cool thing about this setup is I can use the longer vertical bars I have and raise the thing up for a standing platform if I like. Sometimes my back gets a little achy bending over, so I put the keyboard where the laptop is. Iā€™m in training mode now with the new Elektron gear, so I use the laptop for watching video tutorials.

Can I also get the same info? This looks like a real solid approach

Iā€™ll just post it here if itā€™s ok with the mods.

Keep in mind, if you want to use the T-top section (which is used for the keyboard) you see, you will need a special clamp. All this Gibraltar tubing is 1.5" except for the long portion of the T-top Section GEMS you see in the pic. That long tube is 1" and requires a special clamp which is this one. You can see it at Sweetwater just look up the Item ID

So really, depending on how much gear you have, it could be cheaper than what I have there.
At minimum you will want T leg assembly x2, the vertical bars for the T leg assembly Right angle claps which attach to the vertical bars and hold the horizontal bars, then the electronic mounting clamps to hold the synths.

Below is a more conservative setup. I am so impressed with how durable this stuff is. Itā€™s top notch. I looked for days and days at synth racks and Iā€™m glad I got this. Now I just have to figure out how to pay for my RYTM MKII when that comes as I dipped into the RYTM piggy bank to purchase this rack. Expensive as hell, but I had to have it. My former drummer from my band thinks Iā€™ve lost my mind

Gotcha! The stand is taller than I thought it was. Thatā€™s a cool setup.

How did you put side panels on the A4Mk2?

3m double sided tape. Comes off no damage with a little elbow grease.
Hereā€™s an identical set Awaiting the AR MKII

Yet to have had a shot of the Mk2 but from videos and sound clips I think youā€™ve nailed it and put it in a better way than I ever could.

Thereā€™s something in the sounds Iā€™ve heard that has made me sit up and take notice. Putting aside the likes of U-Heā€™s vstā€™s, I always thought the A4 was easily replicated ITB. The Mk2 sounds more analogue. I hate myself for writing that actually. What I mean is that it sounds more like what I want from an analogue bit of hardware without going too far over the cliff like with the DSI stuff (just donā€™t like their sound at all!).

Which DSI stuff are you talking about? Their CEM Filter based Line of Synths differs from their SSM and SEM recreated filter on Pro2, P6 and OB6.

Their older stuff. Iā€™ve owned a few of their pieces over the years - always too harsh/metallic for my liking. I donā€™t doubt the newer stuff is likely more pleasing though (from what Iā€™ve heard anyway).

The Pro2 has that metallic Tone too, due to the digital OSC. But its Filter are very smooth and buttery. So are P6 and OB6. Less metallic but very organic smooth. Try them of you can. Much better, than those CEM based stuff. DSI together with Novation Peak and Elektron Analog Four Mk2ā€¦best sounding modern analog gear.

Does the A4 mkII have any EQ settings or even a tone knob? I really love my OG A4, but some of my sounds get pretty peaky/ear piercing when cranked up to club volume.

If the mkII had an onboard EQ, along the individual outs & new screen, I might consider upgrading.

Nope - exactly the same except character/design of LP filter/OD
