I would love this. Use tracks for midi out and getting extra voices for pads or external triggered percussion…
can we send MIDI from a CV track on the A4mk2 without using up one of the four tracks, ye? Like I could trigger an external instrument just by sequencing notes on the CV track, right? But can that midi be sent out the midi output? Thinking of grabbing a SP404mk2 to do this, wana make sure
Yes, you can.
Thanks! Will conditional trigs work with sending MIDI out? E.g. if I set a trig to play 1:4 and such, will the external device be triggered accordingly?
Conditionals work for midi tracks as well.
A4 midi loopback, FX track plays Multi Map, CV track plays extra notes. Macros to modulate Multi Map sounds.
Bad mono left recording so random pan sucks.
Any news on that? Using the ak for sequencing and it would be really nice not to be forced to reenable sequencer send after changing to a blank pattern.
In Ableton Live you select which midi channel and device a track receives note data on when you create a new midi track and put a VST on it. Do you not have to do the same in Fruity Loops?
hi all, long time reader first time poster.
first of all, sorry for resurrecting old post, but I have an issue, I’ll try to describe it best as possible hopefully some of y’all knowledgeable souls will be able to help ![]()
i have the octatrack as clock master, sending clock to analog keys. analog keys midi OUT goes to digitakt, and all works nicely there, no issues.
my main issue is the blofeld, which sits at the end of the chain. namely, i wish to be able to sequence blofeld either from the octa, or play it from AK. this is only possible if blofeld is set to same channel as auto channel on analog keys. none of the midi data from the octa reaches the blofeld, regardless of the midi channel used (blofeld has a nice red LED which flashes when midi is present)
so my next idea was, ok, i’ll sequence it from AK (not great but I could live with it temporarily). but , it doesn’t work.
i am able to play the blofeld from AK if blofeld is on same channel as auto channel. or if i hit MIDI EXT button. but i tried using track 4 on AK to send midi notes to blofeld, it just doesn’t work, even if i set them to be on the same channel. so playing keys work if channel is the same OR if MIDI EXT is on (but blofeld then must be on the same channel as auto channel in order to read those notes)
so idk if anyone has a similar chain in their set up, or should i try to rearrange the setup so the digi is 2nd in line? obviously some filtering happens, as nothing i do on the octa reaches the blofeld.
i will take a day to rearrange everything and try every possible combination, but generally I wish to use midi out on AK because I want to play the blofeld, not just send sequences from Octa (which is , well, I could play it from the octa too using chromatic mode but that’s not ideal). also midi thru has din sync duties.
anyone had similar issues with any (other) synth that was resolved sucessfully?
I only have a A4mkII so I’m not sure if this exactly the same on the AK, but one thing which could be causing an issue here is making sure “send MIDI notes” is checked on the track. It’s in the Note Setup menu, and you have to check it for each pattern where you want sequencer notes sent externally.
If I remember correctly the mini keyboard on the A4mkII sends MIDI notes on the perf channel, rather than the MIDI channel of the selected track, but I’m not near my setup to check right now. There’s also a setting in the main settings which controls whether the mini keyboard sends notes internally, externally or both. I don’t know if there’s something similar on the AK, but worth checking.
Hopefully those two things might help.
it did help - a bit ![]()
i am now able to send sequencer data from AK to Blofeld, but I’m doing it via FX track, which I have set up on midi channel 9, beucase that’s the only way to be able to for example live record.
anyways, this also solved my issues with blofeld not receiving midi notes fro octatrack, so now i have it set on all on channel 9 and it works.
weird weird weird, but if it does the job…
thank you @styxington for your guidance
