Amplifier required for mono synth > AR MK 2 ext in/audio in?

I plan to feed a mono synth through the AR MK2 as a small and self contained setup (without a mixer). After researching on this forum I’m getting confused: do I need some kind of amplifier in between, to boost the 1/4” mono unbalanced output signal?

Thanks guys…

depends on the synth, when I feed digitone to ext in it has enough juice, but when I tried tr-6s it was reaaaly weak, I had to pull up every possible gain/volume setting to get mediocre levels and then bring down the rytm tracks to ~3/4-1/2 so the volumes would match.
in general yeah, the ext in is pretty low volume and there’s no mixer like in the digis.

That’s bad news. Is this true for both the audio and the external in?

I’m deciding between the Vermona Mono Lancet, the Rarewaves Hydronium or the Erica DB-01. Perhaps sonebody has first hand info on these.

there was a thread on this topic and people referenced line level signal boosters, check it out maybe it’s a good solution.

or maybe something like this should work?

https://www.amazon.com/Moukey-Low-Noise-Sub-Mixing-Microphones-Mixer-MAMX1/dp/B08393DLGV

check this thread on these, maybe people who got it can tell you if it can boost the signal cleanly

Added the Octatrack (oh my…), case closed.
