Album Of The Year 2020

and i forgot (Im really sorry) the great women from uk, kate tempest probably made the soundtrack of the year with this unholy elixir:

and if you like pj Harvey, you probly will Nadine Shah, great voice with a dark vibe who is one of my favorite new discoveries this year:

a defining album of the year for me, regardless of whether AOTY or not.

other mentions (some done above):

  • Cut Copy: Freeze, Melt
  • Four Tet: Sixteen Oceans
  • Sam Prekop: Comma
  • Luke Abbott: Translate

BUT I am more thinking of defining my 2020 soundtrack than choosing AOTY…

The squarepusher album was great as well

For me it´s AS Fanning “You Should Go Mad” that´s just released. Maybe I´m biased by being represented on the most of the tracks but this song is amazing.

“K&D is all Digitone pretty much”

Also, Kanyalang - Earthbound EP which never got a digital release.

Another vote for the Caribou album, that’s had a lot of play in our house. I love the new Kate Tempest too.

I wouldn’t say album of the year, but it’s worth mentioning, for those tracking idm, ambient and techno. Robert Henke is brilliant

My wife and daughter have driven me mad constantly playing this . My wife had it on her phone on Spotify to play in the car, and even when I went out on my own, she had left it playing still on her phone without knowing and whenever I came close to the house the car would pick it up and it would suddenly start playing on the speakers !!! Arrrghhh !!!

Very few albums have hit my radar this year but Jacob Collier’s Djesse Vol.3 would be my choice.

Such a talented artist, but with that said, I have never listened to one of his albums. I guess now is as good as ever.

This is a great thread, please keep them coming. It’s already gotten me into these two, and I’m loving both - I must be in an electro mood.

Thanks for the suggestions!

My top 3 albums would be:

  1. Andrea - Ritorno
  2. DJ Python - Mas Amable
  3. Konduku - White Herron (technically 2019 but I only got into it this year…)

The Flaming Lips really hit something in me even if I don’t usually listen to this genre. It has the authenticity mark of experienced musicians. Thanks for sharing.

Must be We Live Here by Bob Vylan.

I just can’t stop listening to it!

OK, I’ll riff off the post above and play the old man. Bob Dylan, Rough and Rowdy Ways.
Masterclass in songwriting.

That DJ Python record is so good. Have it on K7

Some of mine :

Shifted : The Dirt on our Hands
Sleeparchive : Trust
Ruhig : Ruins of the Marble Garden
Felix Fleer : Silver Rain
Luke Slater : Berghain Fünfzehn
Ulla : Tumbling Towards a Wall

So much good stuff came out this year with the bandcamp fridays it’s hard to keep track.
