Akai MPC One [ Retired : Search for MPC Thread ]

I don’t miss anything about the 1000, the ONE is far far superior to me. I used the 1000 for quite a few years as the central hub of a midi setup and loved it back then, but it’s from it’s time. The ONE is now.

on the live 2 I found my fingers dragged on the screen protector which made scrolling n pinching tricky. took it off and it was much more fluid. maybe I’ve dry skin or somethin tho I dunno

If you want to use it on the balcony /terrace - its good to replace it with something that has an anti mirror effect. Without that its hard to read in the sunlight.
If someone has recommendations for a screen protector with anti mirror (ideally bought in EU) - bring it up.
I had bought an alternative, but its not 100% fitting.

It is lower in key like 2 octaves.

I tried setting my start to C1 on master config. No joy, but haven’t tried researching what the prior poster said. I am somewhat of a Luddite with this stuff that said I am having a blast so it isn’t a showstopper

Nice one. I’ll prob just bite the bullet then. Made to be used after all. if they bring out a retro style ONE I’m gonna kick myself

man the retro is so nice

Definitely don’t take it off it’s not some throw away piece of plastic it’s actually a screen protector that comes installed.

I pulled it off thinking it was one of those films they put on to protect it during shipping. As I was pulling it off the thought crossed my mind that is was very thick for some flimsy throw away thing.

Googling later I found out what it really was and kicked myself. Ordered a $20 replacement and I’m pretty sure it was thinner than the one the MPC one came with. Lesson learned. Thankfully it went on with no bubbles.

I wonder about ‘reduced heat dissipation’, with leaving the film on the big screen.
Is that a thing with LCDs?

I’ve left it on my Force for over a year, no issues, but it does get a little warm sometimes, like an iPad Mini’s touchscreen when running its CPU near 100% for some time.

Hey guys, any good mid level tutorial around? I watched to akai videos and now i feel i can go further… pretty sure this is a goldmine once you understand some trick

Get the MPC Bible, it goes through absolutely everything via tutorials, it’s all you need and worth every penny.

Has anyone explored the step sequencer?
It seems that pseudo-trigless locks are possible, but imo, it’s not as quick or interesting as on Elektrons.
In its step sequencer, velocity events are essentially note-on events/triggers, and are de-coupled from other automation events.
DAW-like automation, but in a step sequencer, de-coupled events, up to 64th-note triplets; may be worth exploring.

One newbie question… it is possible to automate time-stretch, reverse and all this samples related parameters?

I’ve had no issues with this screen protector so far, can’t say I’ve used it in sunlight though:

Time-stretch (Warp): No. Reverse: Yes. Sample-related parameters: Mostly Yes.

Each pad in a drumkit program, and each keygroup in a keygroup program, has 4 layers, with each layer holding 1 sample. A program can contain up to 128 pad/keygroups. There are around 57 sample-related parameters that can be automated in each pad/keygroup. At the program-level, there are more parameters.

Each pad/keygroup gets its own pad mixer and 4 effects, all of which can be automated. At the program-level, there are an additional 4 effects.

A song can contain up to 128 programs.

Sample start cannot be automated. Velocity-to-sample-start can be automated, as can sample offset, and slice selection. Nice, but it’s not as deep, fun, or easy as an Elektron. Apples and Oranges.

you can also copy n paste a pad n adjust sample parameters on that.
n u have 128 pads per program.

again its different to the elektron workflow but quite usable.
