The dude I bought my mpc from promised he’d send me a receipt, now he’s ghosted my message and blocked me. Need the receipt to register it so I can download the software and updates and shit. Either way it’s super weird. Not really sure what to do, do you reckon it’s stolen or something? Can easily find his account from anyone else’s so he’s definitely blocked me. God I fucking hate buying and selling gear
PM sent @jb
I only needed the serial number located on the base of the device to register etc [mpc live 2]
Yeah it asks the date of purchase and location, not sure what to put. Also it says warranty requires a receipt so honestly I’d have rather just bought it new than save 50 quid and get no warranty. Pissed
oh yea, I forgot it asks you the date n shop where purchased. now that u mention it I remember.
sh1t, hope you get sorted. there’s no need for someone to withhold that info if you’ve already bought their device. fingers crossed for u.
Yes that is really annoying because you get stuff like free expansions, discounts on software and samples, the MPC software and so on… I’d suggest you to ask to AKAI customer service if they can unregister your product from its previous owner and then allow you to make a new account.
did it come with the box, if so look on the box at all of the barcodes and see if you can tell what store it came from, if you can tell what store it came from then that store can give you the purchase date info etc…
Just contact akai support.
yeh i wasnt asked for date or store. there has to be a work around.
Hi Echo_opera
I was wondering if it’s possible to record the iPad audio into the mpc one on the fly while sequencing the iPad via midi from the akai mpc one ?
Without stopping audio.
Thanks
Yeah. You can totally do that. Just feed the Audio Out from the iPad to the AudioIn on the MPCOne and you’re golden.
Thanks for the reply and just what I wanted to hear. I haven’t purchased the akai yet but it was a bit of a deal breaker I think I would be able to get some great stuff using this process with gen 2 iPad Pro. Was also pondering over the live 2 but haven’t made my mind up yet the extra midi and outputs would be an advantage with midi routing.
Regards
Robert
@jayhosking Are you still using the MPC One? You do good jamz and I’m curious of your ultimate thoughts.
I switched out the One for the Live II. The Live II is awesome, but I prefer the One and am missing the One’s setup. I’m probably going to trade back for the One, as it’s better for my current life. Honestly, all of the modern MPCs are fantastic devices that are tremendously powerful, and they’re also more fun for working with samples than any other method I know.
I bought and sold a Live on two different occasions. I kept stumbling and squinting at the UI and losing all my momentum and trying to power through for months to access all the capabilities I knew were just centimeters below my fingertips. I decided to try the One and after 6 hours or so I’m very impressed with with how much more fun it is to use. I’m a buttonboy I suppose. Touchscreens are great for certain things but they are pretty dismal at others. Also I couldn’t get over how bulky the Live was but I was supposed to unplug it’s generous I/O and use it completely standalone to justify the additional cost and space of a built in battery? That never felt quite right and I could never really let it go when tapping around on the larger than it should be but lacking in sensible layout Live.
I have the X and it has been the best addition to my studio I’ve made to date. One thing that tremendously speeds up the workflow on the X is the ‘up/down/left/right’ arrow buttons with centre ‘Enter’ button. Basically I don’t use the touch screen unless it’s to select something - all navigation functions are performed using the arrows. I’m surprised these were left off the One. I would have ditched the ‘+’ and ‘-‘ buttons in place of the directional arrows on both the Live 2 and One.
I agree - particularly on the One, where the buttons were obviously rethought, a set of directional arrows would have been a really useful addition (maybe a little too useful for the lowest-priced model). But I’m generally fine with the touchscreen now, and maybe it’s something that primarily affects people who’ve used older MPCs and are used to that way of working.
I was a little sceptical of the screen, but there’s no doubt now that it improves a lot of functionality for me - a good indicator of this is how often I jab at the screen on the Polyend Tracker expecting a response. Some thought and development still needs to go into the balance of screen and traditional controls - a solution that’s less extreme than the flagship excess of the X - but I think they’ve done a good job so far.
yea i kept trynna touch the tracker screen too.
having said that, I keep trying to pinch zoom on magazines
All you need is the serial number from the MPC and to create an account on the Akai website. Once you do that, all the associated software will be available for download.
