Never had the issue with mpc live, or any instruments but had this happen several times with different cintiqs. Had to buff the rubber out because it was so sticky, quite a workout too.
Just took my push out of storage and now its a sticky mess to!
There was no excess heat or direct sunlight and it was in the original packaging
Is it true Ableton dont sell replacement parts for the push 2 ?
how to make it that reselling becomes harder.
that’s why.
Try some liquid soap on a towel and try removing the sticky mess, it worked yesterday for my ruined H4n. Felt like new after that.
I treated my Push 2 with “Goo Gone - Goo & Adhesive Remover” several times. It was a bit sticky on the sides and below. It was not a complete mess… The Goo gone improved the situation, but was not able to solve it ultimately. Fortunately, I still was able to sell the P2 before it got really bad.
I’ve had this happen to me with devices that were kept in a drawer or closed space.
Urbanears headphones were new. I had to throw them away.
I think they’re doing this shit on purpose. There’s no way a manufacturer doesn’t know this. After all these years and people complaining about it.
wow, Goo Gone made my push 2 new again and it was a sticky mess… I was gonna get rid of it but it gave it a whole new lease on life
!!
the whole thing was a mess even the bottom… all gone
yeah, my Push 1 still isn’t perfect but it just needs a bit more Goo Gone & a lot more elbow grease to get it a bit closer to perfect. that stuff works tho, just gotta put in the effort with it, no substitute for just scrubbing.
Did you take any before and after pictures? I recently received a Push 2 replacement from Ableton and I’m so paranoid about the sticky mess situation, I almost sold it to buy a Push 3!
Is the push 3 covered in this crap?
No I didn’t , but push 3 looks nice
Thanks for the tips, I managed to get rid of the stickyness by removing the rear panel and using Methylated spirits.
Some videos that were helpfull -
The Polyend Play also has a rubber coating, so it may become sticky over time…
Another reason to dislike them
I have major TPE meltdown anxiety for my 3 Digi’s. It feels depressingly inevitable…
Aside from buying replacement knobs and buttons for all 3 devices in advance of the meltdown (and before they’re no longer manufactured), has anyone tried talcum powder as either a preventative or restorative measure?
Use “Frosch Grapefruit” to remove that sticky stuff! - Works excellently…
Really?! You used this successfully on yours? Im looking for a safe solvent and this sounds promising.
I’ve cleaned several MIDI controllers, remote controls, car parts, electrical toothbrushes, and other things with it.
Top product!
I don’t know if it’s going to help but I keep a silica gel pack in the travel cases within which I store my Elektrons. I also store them in the travel cases when not in use. At least this way they’re not exposed unnecessarily to UV light.
