Ableton OB plugin location install issues

Submitted a support ticket for this just now but wanted to post the issue here in case anyone else has seen this.

Mac 10.15.5
Ableton 10.1.14

  • Uninstall / Restart

  • Install OB / Restart, with my only needed items:
    Rytm
    Digitone

  • Overbridge Control Panel, Standalone Rytm, and Standalone Digitone work as expected

  • Issue: Ableton cannot find Digitone VST to load in previously created blank template upon opening. Rytm VST works as expected.

  • Uninstall / Restart / Download fresh installer

  • Install OB / Restart with all available items:
    Rytm
    Digitone
    A4
    A Heat
    A Keys
    Digitakt

  • Verify Issue: Ableton loads Digitakt VST plugin in place where Digitone VST should load in previously created blank template upon opening. Digitakt plugin does not work, as would be expected since there is no hardware Digitakt to connect to. Rytm VST works as expected.

  • Uninstall / Restart

  • Install OB / Restart with all available items:
    Rytm
    Digitone
    A4
    A Heat
    A Keys
    Digitakt

  • Manually delete “Digitakt.vst” from Library / Audio / Plug-Ins / Elektron

  • Manually rename “Digitone.vst” -> “Digitakt. vst” in the same above location

  • Partially solved: Ableton loads a plugin named “Digitakt” where the “Digitone” should be in previously created blank template. Upon opening the plugin window, it is the Digitone plugin and works as expected (i.e., hardware can be played, etc.).

  • Issue remains: When opening old project files, hardware asks to sync via plugin state (as expected), but does not correctly load previously saved state. Hardware always defaults to INIT state (i.e, no notes or other project data is loaded to hardware).

I have the same problem. Rebooting / clean OB reinstalling did not help.
I installl only the Digitone VST plugin but ableton does not load it (all seetings get lost in my old projects) even if it sits on the vst2 plugins list.

Got a reply from Elektron to my support ticket, copied below:

The issue is due to inevitable changes that had to be made to the Digitone plugin for this update. Unfortunately, it broke backward compatibility for DAW projects and we’re investigating possible solutions. I’m very sorry for the inconvenience and I hope we can find a solution soon.
