Ableton Move : User Thread

Mostly the MM2. It is the perfect partner in every respect. Both in terms of sound and form factor. It’s just a shame that the Move only has one MIDI track, so you can’t use the second timbre of the MM2 (except for layer sounds).

I don’t understand the operator bandwagon, I really have no idea where I would even start mapping out an interesting, tweakable and fun to use instrument with only 8 macro’s. The MI Plaits inspired instrument Meld on the other hand would be fantastic in a lite, single osc version.

I think this is more about a player device for operator presets. There are more essential things to fix, e.g. MIDI or some workflow stuff. But I guess everyone sees it differently.

I hope he performance FX move up under the slicing!!!

I’m disappointed that most people have such different priorities to me. I don’t really care about any of those things, especially stuff like probability. Move isn’t an Elektron step sequencer imo, it’s something that records your playing. I just want audio looping, audio tracks, stuff like that.

Like slicing on the Octatrack mainly seems like a hack to have more samples available which isn’t really necessary here since you can have 64. And lazy chop works fine. I don’t really understand what people want to do with it, but I guess I’ve never worked that way.

Ordered this one, 15€!
Haven’t received it yet.

Wow. No one wants threshold sampling or other nice to have sampling features. It’d be nice to start sampling when you hit play and have it sample for a specific number of bars or beats.

Exactly the same, I just take samples from my synths (Take5 and Teo-5) and use the melodic sampler or drum rack. I really like the results. To be honest, I don’t really care about Drift, I don’t like its sound. Wavetable is better, but I still prefer to use samples from my own synths.

I really want it :+1:

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it won’t fit .

I returned this one, it’s too small

Any noise issue? Do you need to use an isolator?

This plus a couple other little features would basically allow you to use a drum rack as a 64 track looper! Even if it didn’t overdub it would still be an amazing tool for writing different ideas and building up an arrangement.

No need for this because the Move’s usb port isn’t compatible with the MM2 :yum: Seems to be a bug on Ableton’s side. The Move is picky regarding some class-compliant usb devices.

But you’re right. If usb would work, I had to use a ground loop isolator between the MM2’s output and the Move’s audio input.

I struggle to get sounds I like out of Drift. I do like Wavetable, but my favorite is Operator.

But mostly I prefer samples of synths. Another trick I like is to loop a few cycles from a sample, which can often retain the character of the sampled sound. I haven’t tried this with the Move yet, but I bet I can make something weird happen there with the Drum Sampler fx.

Beside of a better MIDI implementation, a better (re)sampling workflow is my most wanted feature and of course I voted for this (the list above shows only features with 70+ votes).

wish ableton came by and got in on this sampling conversation… but it’s nice to see everybody’s interest…!

According to the answers from the Ableton guys at the Discord AMA session, sampling workflow and MIDI seems to be high priority on their backlog :star_struck:

yeah heard that!!.. believe it when i see it though, lookin forward to it

I used to do this (looping waveforms) in Koala Sampler, where it worked perfectly. I tried to do it with Move, but I don’t find the Loop FX suitable for that…
