You’re right there, that half of the process/decision is “how can it be added without making the UX to convoluted”, something roland never cares for, they are maximising features.
Hope the team can add most of the wishes without compromising on the simplicity/immediacy
“Resample loop” would be nice. Copies the current loop to the first free pad. Something to do with pressing the sample button while in the loop browser, and pressing the step buttons to choose how much of the loop you want.
I tried midi syncing the Roland Compact T-8 to the Move via USB and it works perfectly.
One tip. The noise/hum is caused by the Move charging the Roland Compact. You can see this by the orange charging light being on. If you hold down C note while powering on the Compact then it turns off charging and the noise is gone
Just 2 questions, maybe you can enlighten me: is it possible to just mix in the line in while running the other tracks and playing something? (And if so, are there mixing options like EQ, pan, effects available on the line in?
Second: is there planing on the drum samples, or just on the whole drum track?
I dug out my ground loop isolator and it totally solves the hum problem when connected to something via both usb and audio cable. I can now sequence a microfreak, say, and also hear it and sample its audio.
Due to travels and illness, I’ve not used Move as much as I would have liked yet. I was certainly not taking it on the piss up I was on last weekend to London anyway. But after this weekend, I think there’s enough here for me to let my M8 go.
To be clear, I’m not saying Move is better or anywhere near as feature rich or whatever. I’ve simply just not been using the M8 and, Move fills this nice spot when you can’t really be arsed making music but it’s so damn easy to get a few loops on the go.
Everything I’ve made on Move thus far has been shit but I’m 100% ok with that as I’m doing music stuff. I really hope Ableton spend some time developing Move further though - feels like it’s a couple of updates aware from being near perfect (for me!).
Similar to me that with travelling and then being on nights.
Had my first hr on it today lay in bed knackered and that turned into 4
I switched it off a few times to get a couple of hours kip before work but kept wondering if I could do this or that so switched it back on (it was next to me in bed) to try, and then got lost in it again
Was up on me knees at the end adding fills and performing to my imaginary crowd…
Then my alarm went off. Gonna take it work with me now.
When the dust settles and honeymoon period wears off, I think Move is going to stand up really well.
As I work primarily in Live, use Push 3SA and now Move, this is going to make Note more useful in my workflow.
I don’t need some of the other small devices out there as I can keep everything in that same Live ecosystem with one of the easiest ways to finish sketched ideas in Live. That alone is a major time-saver and reduces waisted good ideas (including fast access to bad ideas too).
I still wish there were more output options for syncing with external equipment, but this is still a well done box.
That’s pretty much where my heads at. I had largely settled on Live and being ITB 90% of the time before P3S appeared. Love my P3S and liked but never used much, Note. I can see Move glueing a workflow between all 4 nicely.
I’ll no doubt be thinking completely differently by Christmas mind you
