Yay thank you both!
I packed up my studio due to Hurricane Helene and I haven’t had the motivation to unbox everything and spend the countless hours to get it all talking again, so it’s still neatly arranged in my closet. after a few days with Move, I’m pretty sure I’m going leave everything boxed up for the winter and use the Move and the Polyend pretty much exclusively while I go camping and read a bunch of novels that I’ve been ignoring for months.
I’m really enjoying how neat my little living space feels without all these damn cables flying all over the place or the nagging feeling of guilt that comes after going more than a couple of days without turning on the machines – which unfortunately happens during the work week more than I’d like to admit.
the Move has presented itself as an unexpected solution to two very distinct problems: lack of time/energy/motivation to do music and lack of living space.
ever since receiving it, the Move has been like “yo! here, have your life back except now you don’t have to feel guilty for not making any music!”.
it’s been great. I love it.
That’s what I did: connecting my um-one, setting midi out to first track. But nothing is received on the other end and the LEDs dont light up. I have also tried to do direct
USB midi to class compliant synths (Rytm, Take 5, Microfreak) and none worked. I suspect a hardware issue
Thanks for confirming it’s working on your end!
Yes for teh USB cable, if you want the plug and pucky hock inside (not needed in my opinion as I pretty much always have a USB C charger for my phone!) you may want the ‘non slim’ case, Note there is also a mesh bag on the outside you can put stuff in…its a very nice case. We have big 3 pin plugs in UK but I have one of these (folding pins), it fits inside the case or the mesh bag!
My Move is out for delivery today
Edit: Just arrived
That’s funny because I just tried the same recently and found myself appreciating the SP404MKII more for recording keyboard parts. The main functions I’m missing on the Move are:
However, with all that said I’m thankful for being able to transfer the sets on Move to the cloud and have my samples seamlessly on the computer.
Off topic, but I tried Note last night while waiting for my Move to arrive. They really need to add a step sequencer to that. I can’t see myself using it without one.
Where is the benefit to just connect a midi controller?
Immediately see the issue with the text not scrolling. I selected the wrong wifi network as I couldn’t see the end of the text to choose 5G vs 2G. They need to fix that.
Note’s sequencer is coming. It’s there in the beta.
Just get Test Flight from the App Store and get the Note beta. It’s pretty solid, you get the piano roll and a lot more.
I already have TestFlight. How do you get the beta? Do you have a link?
Edit: got it
I have one of those speakers. I was thinking they’d probably pair nicely
They do indeed! It sounds pretty good, no latency I can feel, and it all fits on my little tray. Perfect for annoying pretty much anyone.
Is there a bug where undo’ing a deleted clip puts all the notes back (you can see them in the sequencer) but they don’t play?
Edit: Figured out you have to go into session view and restart the clip.
I think most things you me mentioned will come to Move before long, but the one-shot loop feature on the 404mk2 is brilliant and would be a massive bonus.
Obvs there are some SP features that the Move can’t touch, but it’s over-fiddly at this point, with its ‘rub your head and pat your belly while pressing pad 1’ level shortcuts.
I’m way happier with the Move focus and speed of transfer to Live. (Still keeping my 404 though).
