Case update. The MAGMA one I found doesn’t work (post updated to avoid anyone making the same error.) Will carry on looking, but maybe the MPK one is going to be more accomodating.

Just received mine an hour ago. Ordered 2 days ago (UK)
First impressions …
Really well built. Nice pads (similar to my push 3 in response)
Pretty cool piece of kit. I love the fact I can have different loop lengths on clips, to build up a polymetric / polyrhythmic jam.
Really quick to work my way around. Have already got 2 pieces going.
One thing I find a limit at the moment is that drum samples can only have a max 500ms loop length. Would be much better to be able to loop the whole sample, as I want to use sliced up jams on my drum sample pads.
Can’t think of much else off the bat. Good work Ableton !

EDIT … would be really nice to have clip launch settings somewhere (per clip) with legato mode please

ALSO … a proper simpler instrument, so I can have control of looping, playback direction etc would pretty much put my DT out of service.
And proper midi in/out in as others have mentioned

Oh… which one did you buy? I was looking at a Roland boutique softcase… but i am not really sure if i would buy it to try it…

Edit: oh you did buy what I was thinking… hmm no fit…that is a bummer

I’m so glad you’re going through this and not me haha. I am slightly confused they haven’t released a trendy case/bag to go with it. The video shows a dude just holding it on the tube (subway)………doesn’t show him getting mugged five minutes later

I got the one earlier in the thread (Amazon link.) It’s a MAGMA case. I literally opened it and tried to put in and thought… yeah that’s not working. It’s basically untouched so I’ll return it. Comparing it to my Launchkey and yeah it’s not super tight but it’s close. So I think @Symian probably had the right idea with the MPK Mini case. I might try that and get some foam to go inside as an insert.

Agreed. It’s quite a specific size, and like we saw with Polyend they did the box for the Tracker Mini that comes with it. I would have gone for that at £449-ish actually if they wanted to do a custom case and bundle it in.

Truth.

Which Magma one?

This guy:

Too tight :grimacing:

I’m thinking the MPK case with inserts is a better shout.

With these smaller cases, is it worth getting some foam and cutting an exact shape for it to sit in (given that it will be a bit smaller than the box itself?)

In the manual, it looks like we should be able to adjust the velocity > volume response for individual Drum Rack pads in the ‘Filter & Setup Parameters’ page, but I don’t see it anywhere on mine… am I missing something?

I’ve got a quantise question;

When you’re using midi capture and building up a loop/clip and the Quantise is set to 50%; when you add new notes/parts into the clip and hit Quantise is it always applying that 50% to everything?
So the first things you catch end up getting more and more on the grid each time?

(By the way, I never used to use Midi Capture in Live or on my Push… Move has opened my eyes to it and I’m using it constantly now.)

Yeah it’s defo one of those slept on features I was the same when I first tried it, really helps maintain the flow… easiest way to see if the quantise thing is happening is probs to just make a few clips in a set and overdub them a few times then send to live and have a look at the midi…

That’s what I will be doing. I have a box of foam I kept from various boxes, and I’ll just cut some to size and maybe glue or double-sided-tape it in place.

Cheers. I’ll give it a go.

Too bad the Move doesn’t receive midi clock at this time…

Agree! But I’m sure it will come in a Move firmware update.
