Ableton Move : User Thread

Ah thx. Interesting, only read it the other way till now.

That’s good to know. I like how open they seem to be on their discord, and hope that when the dust settles they are more clear about the plans and progress

I think the Oxi One will be a fantastic midi controller for the Move.

We heard you like pads so here are some pads for your pads

Could someone expand on te sound library, mostly:
Real drums, rodes and pianos.

Are there convincing sounding variants of those?
I know that I can’t expect a multisampled piano, just curious.

Nice one, cheers.

As it happens I was just beginning to realise this after getting around to pumping up some of the gains on the drum rack.

Good info about the limiter also. TIL.

I’ve been playing this morning with a Drum Rack where I have multiple loops running simultaneously and have every pad muted by default.
You can then ‘legato’ play through the 16 loops by unmuting/muting.
It works well, but it’d be even better with Mute locked (so you don’t need to keep M pressed).

The other legato method is to take advantage of the 16 bars per clip.

You can view these as 16 x 1 bar loops, or 8 x 2 bar loops per Clip, etc, and switch between them in seamlessly in legato.

Having these 16 bars to play with goes a long way to bypassing the 8 clip/scene limit. You can have 128 1 bar loops, or 64 2 bar loops per track.

Not sure if mentioned here yet… With your own wavetable samples placed in drum racks & played in to the sequence on 16 pitches, you can manually scan through the Wavetable (second encoder), then when you find the sweet spots hit midi capture & it will replay the scan. Good for resampling a passage & doing it over again too….

Quick tip. If you have Note, you can build sample packs on your ios/ipad device and then sync them with your Move using ableton cloud

anyone know if the orders with Ableton are backed up?

they charged my debit but mine has been sitting in processing for a while. still hasn’t budged. thinking I need to e-mail them to see what is up.

Their faq is pretty straightforward in explaining, Processing stays as status until a shipping label has been created. No change equals still not shipped, budging them will probably not make it much faster.

oh cool, thank you for the info. had not seen that. i figured maybe something was wrong because the bank transaction actually declined a couple of times due to the charge being from Germany. had to go into my account and authorize it manually.

I’m waiting for an update since 8th, already got my usb-midi cable, will have to wait until next week I guess. Hehe just gonna prep some samples and racks in live over the weekend probably to have stuff ready to load when it arrives

I just received mine via DHL in Germany.
I placed the order in the afternoon of the 8th, also had no status at all until I received the shipping number yesterday in the late afternoon. Hope this helps!

i just sort of assume they’re inundated with orders as the reviews have been generally positive and so lots of people who were skeptical are getting on board. oh well.

nice. i’m in north Georgia close to their Tennessee warehouse.

i’m going to stop my whinging over here and just play with Digitakt 2 this weekend. it’s been boxed up since Hurricane Helene and it needs some TLC.

practice is important. actually DOING is vital. but don’t underestimate the value of consuming tons of videos!

believe me, the information is retained. we learn by observing. i’ve gone on extended youtube binges where i did nothing but obsessively watch synth videos for weeks without touching my gear, and when i finally came back to it i had more ideas and expertise than i did before and the music started to flow.

it’s all part of the process. don’t feel bad for allowing your curiosity to get the better of you.

i agree, the Move looks totally awesome for plebs like us! i’m okay at using Elektron gear and I have a decent competency with synthesis but I recently purchased a Polyend Tracker Mini because I wanted to badly to have a mobile rig to make music when I was on work trips. let me say, I absolutely hate it. everything I do with it is completely sterile and lacks any human feeling at all. i am simply not advanced enough to be confined to that rigid of a grid and make something that actually sounds good. so for me, the Move looks to be just the thing! so right there with you on this.

p.s. your puppers is adorbs.
