Push has pretty decent parameter locking in the step sequencers — you can’t access every parameter like on Elektron boxes, but you can access most of what you would want most of the time.
No. Just automation.
But since it has those steps below… I could see holding a step and twisting a knob. It has become the norm lately
There is, using the step sequencer you just hold the step and twist those knobs!
I guess the products are kind of dependent on how Live behaves, and even though it probably is technically possible to recreate something similar to parameter lock in Live, I would assume that it would need to be more of a native feature in order for their hardware to do it fully, given that all projects can be opened in Live.
That’s sort of what I was thinking – it would be a bit of a kludge to have a lot of stepwise automation curves. But evidently it’s in Push to some extent?
Yes. In the step sequencer layout on Push you can hold a note and the screen shows which note you’re highlighting and you can change the parameters.
Unlike how it works on an elektron though, it will only change the automation for that single note so if you want to have the automation last until the next note you have to hold down all the pads between the first and the second note. Cuz you’re really just manipulating the automation lane that’s on Ableton (and typical in every other DAW).
In Note you can tweak the knobs and record automation. Not sure about parameter locking.
Edit: it seems like you can only motion record automation in Ableton Note currently.
Or those long knobs. Am I expected to buy a case to safely transport it in backpack???
My god… you people are never satisfied :))
I bet if it had small knobs, all the people were “Oh… how am I supposed to fiddle with those?”
Oh that has been said many times already, about a thousand posts up
Yeah this looks real.

I see it as an equivalent of the Circuit Tracks, but fully integrated with Live. And that sounds like magic to my ears. Sure hope that it’s more than 4 tracks and as I mentioned before, it would be weird that the vertical direction would indicate the amount of tracks since it’s always the horizontal direction for everything Ableton, at least in session view.
The colored launch buttons to the left are a bit worrying in that sense since different colors usually means different tracks. But we’ll have to see it demoed tomorrow to know. Maybe there is a toggle between session and arragenement view, where the launch buttons turns into indicators for each track when in arrangement view and that’s what we’re seeing here? That has always been something missing with the Push, the absense of arrangment view or equivalents of it.
I’m not too worried about track count. For a start, the only mention of 4 tracks was in that customer survey from years ago. Plus, the Push only has 8 tracks, but they scroll to become infinite tracks!
Those L/R arrows make me think that the tracks are vertical, like in Session View, and you can scroll between them
Thanks for this.
So about 13.7 inches long and 6.38 inches width for us freedom units users.
Kinda visualing the size in front of me and I think they nailed the size for a portable unit. Some units try to be so small it affects usability in either button size (op-z) or button amount (that new little Roland sampler).
This looks like a good size.
Really, really hope so. Eagerly awaiting the walkthroughs tomorrow.
I hope akai are taking notes for the MPC Mini
looks fantastic to me. Ableton are operating firmly within their core design principals. it’s hard to imagine it looking any different than what we are seeing here.
polyend mini is probably going up on reverb as soon as the demo videos drop. i already know Note inside and out so this is an instantaneous purchase for me.
Ok, this must be it after all…! Does indeed look much better with lights
Just noticed… this doesn’t have MIDI Din or Mini MIDI jacks… it has the usb MIDI… wonder if that’s just to plug in a controller to it though…
