I don’t think it’s a bug because neither Format
nor Function
are searchable, not a big deal I guess once I’d setup custom tags and save them as presets.
Someone on the Beta feedback forum found a bit of a hack to rearrange the saved searches, until they hopefully implement it as a feature.
No idea how to get there on a PC, but on a Mac, close Live, go to:
Users/[username]/Library/Preferences/Ableton
There’s a library.cfg file which can be opened with a text editor like textedit. Towards the bottom of that file, you’ll see all your saved searches, you can cut and paste them into a different order, then save the file and reopen Live.
Make a copy of that file before you edit, just in case you mess it up
Does the performer plugin in the performance pack solve the problem of not being able to save custom midi or key mapping to instrument devices or racks?
To answer my own question it unfortunately doesn’t seem to save the mapping either in an instrument rack or in the performer device which means you will have to manually map it in every new project which sucks.
I think it was already mentioned earlier in the thread, but yeah doesn’t work unfortunately… I guess saving a project template is still the only way, wish it would be possible for racks too…
Seems like such a big oversight, something so basic like saving the midi mapping.
There are presets for 5 popular controllers but you spend so long mapping all the controls of a synth thinking you can save it as a preset, so bloody frustrating.
totally, even if they could only do a (native) user-friendly way to create surface scripts, that would probably save so many wasted hours on re-mapping everything…
Anyone any experience using this m4l device?
Possible solution?
What a joke, new beta and nothing fixed.
Still broken CV Instruments
Live 12 Beta Release Notes
12.0b29 Release Notes
February 20, 2024
Live - Bugfixes:
- On Windows, the real time thread affinity setting is now deactivated by default as this could cause poor performance on new Intel processors that have performance efficient cores. This issue caused a performance regression on Windows 10 specifically, if needed, Windows 11 users can enable the previous behavior using an Options.txt entry:
-RestrictAudioCalculationToPerformanceCores=true
What’s broken out of interest (have you reported it?)
Doesn’t work the tunning of an oscilator (using the Push 3 cv outs)
Works fine on Live 11.
And yes i create a bug report, two for be exact.
Hopefully this will fix my CPU problem! I do have a newer intel processor and run Windows 10.
Does anyone know how to implement the breakbeat of doom technique within just Ableton (i.e. no Octatrack) ?
Make the sample chains then load each one in a simpler instance and make a rack and probably use the chain selector mapped however you want it
Official release date : March 5.
Bit more info…
They still have the 20% pre-order discount!
a bit late getting back to this, but yes this must be it, my ableton 11 used max 8.5.6.
the error log also showed that max can’t load the superVP module thats used (last updated 2021) in the newest max version bundled with live 12
however i downloaded that older 8.5.6 max version and tried to point live 12 to it, but it won’t take any max under 8.6 sadly
However since they updated superVP in 2021 (which was iirc the release year of live 11?) maybe they will do it again
but yeah sadly for me I think that means I’ll use Live 11 for the time being, i love these max devices too much…more important to me than the new features
A little disappointed that Live 12 releases in a fortnight but we haven’t seen more of the fun stuff in P3S. Presume the new midi stuff is not coming any time soon then.
Suppose it gives me a reason to plug it into the Mac then😂
Not sure we will ever see the midi generators but we really need better browsing so the tagging/find similar sound thing is my priority…
