Cool. I’m in for the midi generators it’s what live lacked for my workflow. Any video that shows the push integration?
Meld looks like a nice combination of the do it all eurorack VCOs like the 4MS Ensemble Oscillator, Plaits/Braids and Make Noise Telharmonic.
slightly disappointed we still dont have any kind of flextune/pitch correct natively…
some good things in there, however I still don’t like abletons tendency to sell you updates as main features that should be hotfixes.
you can now map a parameter with more than 1 LFO/modulator? That’s amazing, but is that really a feature you should have to pay 200€ for? (besides you can already do it with M4L)
Granulator 3 M4L device? Microtuning?
that said, I just cant help it…i love ableton, bought
Calling it Granulator 3 is a bit insulting I have to admit.
why is that? had no time to check new features in depth yet…
BTW is Operator now MPE? I was really hoping for an Operator 2, seems like it’s not the case at all…
Maybe at some point as a 12.X update?
it has per-note PB now
Also why still no stereo effects processor and stuff like that…im a bit confused about their choices sometimes. I feel like stereo effects and to some degree surround sound capability is an essential in most DAWs. And they really need to add a proper pitch shifter, tuning capability et cetera
You could argue there’s max for live to fill most of these gaps, but then again, what are they selling us here then? most of these things in this update are already available through M4L in some form or another, and saturation/distortion of all things ableton has already so much of. I just wish they would, if they want to add new effects that already exist as max devices, give us a proper, full featureset and not make us buy them piecemeal over years and years. Tuning especially is something that you can’t really implement on the m4l device level though, and they are ignoring it for decades
I just hope one day Ableton when you initiate a Audio track there will be an option of mono or stereo (like in cubase or logic)
Go on youtube now and see the thousands of Ableton tutorial videos of people using stereo kick drums. and the person giving the tutorial doesn’t even realise his/her kick drum is stereo yet their supposed to be experts.
and please don’t say use a utility plugin, you shouldn’t have to use a plugin to turn a channel mono.
I don’t want to come across as negative. But I can easily imagine that millions of people use Ableton and such a quick update will make the cash register ring again.
It’s not a revolution, but it’s nice to have features. I think the new distortion won’t be bad and the LFO and mixer view and setting options. Dynamic EQ would have been very good, because then you won’t need any third-party plugins anymore.
you can use Stereo Split Pan Mode and set both channels to Center
but should you really have to? why not a button on the channel strip mono/stereo
Yes for sure, I love some of these new features, but I’m just disappointed that some of these seem like they should have been there 10 years ago or so, in a free 0.1 update.
What gets me a bit is that they are using Granulator 3 as a selling point, a device that has been around for what, 20 years for free? with the only update being that its MPE now and you can use it as a realtime effect (if at all, maybe its just an audio stream you can sample?)
fix what ain’t broken I guess, its still good
Looks like MIDI tools can’t be used with Push for now. Seems like Push’s internal architecture isn’t fully aligned with Ableton’s current trajectory, especially with them trying to catch up to Bitwig in some ways. Makes you wonder if Ableton’s a bit all over the place and not really sure about their game plan.
I agree, I’d love a mono channel, when I record AR individual outs I want them in mono, I don’t like setting that up either, just saying there is a way.
generally you can setup a “utils” template, you can save a “mono” channel there and then you can drag and drop it from the template into your project when needed.
not saying that I wouldn’t like a proper “new mono channel”, just saying that there’s alternative way then using utility
I would also LOVE to have better metering system, multichannel spectrum analyzer, built it oscilloscope, LUFS meter, or at least RMS meter…
Yeah that’s not clear from the sonicstate vid.
Yeah you’d think it should of been implemented in version 1, I’m still using version 10 maybe it is in 11 or 12 (somehow I doubt it) lol
Instant buy for me as well. I had my start in FL Studio and their piano roll is just next level. I feel like Sonic the Hedgehog in FL Studio, whereas I always felt a bit sluggish in Ableton. Now it seems as if they finally are catching up with FL Studio in terms of a more flexible piano roll and added with the new MIDI editing tools, it really looks very, very promising.
Did anyone compare Roar vs Analog Heat yet?
What’s the source of this info? Is there a beta README or something that discusses this?
…just saw sonicstates ableton12 soon to come show…
and each new feature set argument during that presentation was reminding me of features i enjoy already since a few years by now, whenever i try new wigs on all the bits…
and yup, at least for now and as far that presenter had to tell, all “new” midi tools remain in the suite, not integrated also into push3…
