Did anyone tried these already?

Thanks, I’ll check out these two people!

i woke up today with the idea of trying ableton, but unfortunately, i have already used the trial a couple of years ago

would it make sense to start with the live 12 intro? i thought lite was free, but apparently it comes with some hardware products as a gift/add-on

Live Intro is a very capable piece of software, especially at the current sale price. Just be aware of the limitations and check the feature comparison page so you don’t get disappointed.

Alternatively, if you ask around you might find someone will give you their unwanted Live Lite serial number for free. Sometimes people sell them for almost nothing on KVR.

Considering it. Just done a clean install and balancing out M4L with plugins and stock devices. Tape is the most appealing, so I may pick that one up on its own. Interested to hear if anyone else has tried them.

If you have the Koala app, you can claim a free Live Lite license from the menu within the app.

i used splice a bit like a decade ago. it seems there’s a monthly fee and a limited number of credits. is ableton keeping track of everything you use? is previewing/testing free?

Btw if you type in YouTube search bar Vocal chain you’ll get bunch of cool videos

Got a M1 MacBook air and it is working very well imho. I don’t get why everyone needs the most expensive MacBook pro for music production.

woaaa, the only thing that interested me about this update was the iftah generators, since the website said they would be available for the standard version, but you need Max for Live (or suite)

I’m running a M1 air with 16gb ram & 1TB SSD.

My recent tune has 50 tracks in Ableton 12.3 with loads of processing.
CPU was maxed out with this.

I’ve also tested it with 8 instances of omnisphere 3.
Handled it well

IMO only Ableton Suite (or standard plus M4L add-on) is worth it. If these are too expensive, Logic at $200 and free updates forever is better. (I have and use both.)

Yeah, maybe I give it a shoot. If, I am going to tell how they sound and what for we can abuse them

the thing is i played with fl studio half of my life, then bought some hardware which made me enjoy making music 10x more, but now i want to have more hybrid approach with recording drum machines into daw, using pigments instead of a physical microfreak and process everything in the box

so i’m just experimenting now

Live Lite used to be pretty useless (If I recall, it restricted you to four tracks, and only two of those could host plugins), but these days, it gives you eight unrestricted tracks which is more than enough to complete a song with the right approach. I used Lite for maybe a year or so while I was still primarily on Reason, then bought Standard.

I wouldn’t bother with Intro as having a track limitation in a paid version (16 for Intro) always struck me as miserly, but if you already have plugins you like (especially for synths, reverb, delay), you really don’t need more than Standard gives you. I used Standard for a couple of years before upgrading to Suite when I got a Push, mostly for the Push-integrated synths.

Anyone else struggling to open old projects with 12.3? It just closes the application immediately.

Try deleting/moving your default project to get Live to launch. You should be good from there. Maybe? This happened to me with a previous update.
