Can you test freezing the track, saving it, reopening and unfreezing?
Still clunky, but keeping your clones in a cryosleep group is better than nothing if you want the dynamic settings to persist without rendering.

Grain Delay is absolutely wild
As always, quality video!
Just tried to mix a track in Live (I still prefer Cubase for mixing) using stock plugins only.
Plugins are good. I missed just two things: transient shaper and loudness meter. Dynamic EQ would be helpful for one specific mix issue as well, but I can live without it.
But Liveās interface is such a pain for mixing.
Endless jumping between tracks because there is no inserts section in mixer where I can see all devices on all tracks.
No filters and gain control on tracks. Yes, EQ8 is great, but itās much more convenient to do basic cuts without any plugins.
No easy way to turn off all plugins on a track. I have to group all devices into a rack.
And a lot of other QoL things for mixing.
However, that was fun, after all.
You might want to experiment with the script that is floating around out there for showing plugins on the mixer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQ2v8CNkcNU
Free loudness meter: https://youlean.co/youlean-loudness-meter/
I know these are workarounds. Just trying to be helpful. I agree with you. Ableton should implement some more quality of life enhancements.
Looks great!
There are many of them, I used MLoudnessAnalyzer. But challenge was to use stock only apart from VSX plugin
Iād prefer improvements in session view, in Push integration, and other things. There are other DAWs which are better for mixing, thatās not Liveās strongest point. But Live is much better for other things like sound design, sketching and writing loop based music. I believe it would be better to focus on these sides.
To turn off all plugins on a track you can press Option-4 to go to device view, Cmd-A to select all devices, and 0 to toggle them on and off.
Awesome!
This is just the power of using Ableton Clips, but itās been around for a long time.
I suppose still a very cool feature.
For anyone just getting into Live, the good habit to develop is to ALWAYS save your clips to a folder. You never know when something might work better in a different set.
One of the things Iāve found handy with Max is some of the excellent tools there. Noir labs have a fun transient shaper.
Dynamic EQ would be good, though even the ability to display another channel in the EQ so you can mix against it and see masking frequencies would be a great addition. And the ability to have more than 2 curves for the low/high cut. A moderate spec bump for EQ Eight like Limiter would be quite useful at this point.
I almost went Logic this year then backed out and went back to Live only. The thing about that overview of a Logic session where you can drag plugins across plugins and/or groups is very handy. (Plus the sidebar where you see that track and the buss itās routed to.)
This isnāt a complete workaround, but what Iāve ended up doing is having my own manually created buss tracks for groups. This means when mixing there is a bit less jumping around. I tend to work on the individual tracks, then route them into the groups and focus there. Initially I did this with actual groups but I find this more flexible. It gets the job done I guess!
Itās a good shout. Iāve saved plenty of racks and presets in my time but never this way. The only preset maker I can think of who provides these clip previews is F9.
Hmmm Iāve been using eq8 as a dynamic EQ all this time I didnāt know I couldnāt
Looks nice!
But thatās an external plugin. My challenge for this project was to mix track using bundled devices only. There are plenty of thirdparty options for sure.
How?
You use the envelope follower and map that to any eq8 band.
With the added bonus that you can also boost bands this way to really fuck with your mix
Haha never really tried that
Do you know if there is a max device with a multitrack spectrum? (at least 8 tracks)
