I had a long chat with Cenk about this. He is a master of revealing absolutely nothing. I asked as many probing questions as I could and I believe having asked as many questions as I wanted that I will be getting the machine I want and I believe that a lot of others want. I could of course be totally mistaken its just the way I perceived things.
I tried quite hard to lean across to see the gap however it was quite likely that I would have fallen onto 1 of only 2 Analog keys in the world so did not risk it.

i was thinking 'bout the secret nu machine: why not a Granular something?..
obviously w/ the iconic Elektron sequencer.
Would be awesome- but I have a feeling that’s something they’d probably save for the next Octatrack- granular synthesis is a type of sampling, after all.
I’m not convinced the mystery product will be a drum machine, as it would overlap too much with A4 and MD wouldn’t it? Even if the MD is being discontinued, it would need to have a lot of synthesis power under the hood to trump the A4 as a drumachine.
Think about it, to make a wide range of drum sounds and assuming analog architecture, you’d need to have at least 2 oscillators and noise for each voice, as well as a multimode filter, then in order to make it worth buying over the A4 it would need to have more voices.
If the voices are not able to be played chromatically then it would limit the versatility, and if they were then it would be competing too much with the A4.
Maybe I’m wrong though

I can’t afford anything new either because I just bought an MKII. Not going to lie, I’m saving four hundred a month to buy the Analog keys, cause I’m a keys player.
Didn’t Jon say this new device would not replace any of the other products? That seems to rule out a drum machine as they do have 1 dedicated digital and and an analog dm in the A4. I know people have mentioned modular euro in the past, maybe they’re taking the Elektron sequencer to euro-land including lots of midi and cv options for bringing all this stuff together in one big module? Either way, I’m itching to see what they’ve got Euro is so crowded though, so I really have no idea!

I could imagine, they took the sample engine form the Octatrack, the analog synth engine from the A4 and some of the engines from the MD, took the sequencer from the MD UW plus OT and stirred it up and put it in a box with the step sequencer trigs, but also with Machine/MPC rubber pads, calling it *machine…
I find my Triton makes for a mighty fine controller this end already - I am still eyeing off the Microbrute though - which is about as budget extensive as I get right now.
Has anyone considered a filter effects processor??? Maybe with an x/y pad, something like a Kaoss pad??

My guess is it is a FS1R-level-of-depth FM version of the A4, with 4 x 8 operator FM synths and some sort of user-wave synthesis… “FM4” perhaps.
