A GAS anecdote

I agree with the idea of buying fx box, pedal, etc…to breathe new life into your existing setup. Aside from all my 1 in 1 out transactions I’ve done, I did purchase a Subpac S2 which is on order. I thought realistically about how many “noise makers” or “sound generators” I had and decided to purchase something that would help my productions overall sound quality. When it came to ask for Xmas gift, I asked for a headphone holder and new ear pads for my DT770 Pros. More practical items sometimes can help in other ways and still relieve some GAS.

I also like the idea of saving up for more fully featured items at the higher cost as opposed to buying a bunch of little units. I would rather have 1 Digitone than 4 Volcas, just my opinion though. My most expensive pieces of gear, Access Virus C, Machinedrum UW, and Digitone are staying for awhile.

That’s a rule I try to have. Only watch videos about gear you ALREADY own, and remind yourself how awesome it is!

It’s a little easier with Elektron gear and there are like 5 levels worth of features you haven’t even gotten to yet

Over the last 18 months I’ve boxed and unboxed my AK a few times and every time it feels like a completely different synth. I don’t do it to “add something missing” to my synth palate, but more so to escape from it for a while.

Oh for sure. One for mummy too.

I actually have my Bass Station 2 boxed up due to the Sh-01a taking care of bass duties. Can’t wait to unbox it for that Dopamine hit!

GAS is over when when your mixer input is maxed out, and you have 2 boxes on Bass duty.

I just bought a Bass Station 2 purely because it doesn’t need a power supply, and I have no more sockets available (I’m using like 18), and now my 16 audio ins are all used up.

Hopefully that’s it for some time. Fingers crossed.

Is that a prophet 6 on top of the ob6?

True. But I can’t play my keyboards in the bathroom. If you know what I’m saying :joy::joy::joy:

I learn a lot about new gear right around 10:30am…

Yep.
Nice combo.

I call this the Anti Gas Chamber. Anything currently not in use on the desk gets shelved. If I get the insidious pang of GAS, I pull something from the anti Gas chamber and noodle about for an hour. The symptoms soon pass. And I can return to my normal state of creating.

There’s a lot to be gained from keeping things in the box…

Top notch copyrighting right there!

Thanks for the recommendation!:ok_hand:
I’m just starting, but I feel it will be a good reading.
Not just for the GAS…

I’m thinking of a commercial venture, like celebrity rehab but for GAS.

I will call it the “Betty can’taFord Clinic” where you (and 2/3rds of this forum) can stay to go through the 12 steps in a safe, nurturing environment…

Since you all obviously have no problem parting with disposable and nondisposable income I’m sure it will be a huge success.

My name is Adam and I have GAS, “hi Adam”, its been 3 weeks since my last purchase, but I thought I should check in after I found myself reading manuals for gear I don’t own online…

1 week with our specialist team for the price of a Moog One…who’s in?

Dude, if I had the money for a Moog One… Id have a Moog One…

;p

Hahaha

But, (working on my sales pitch here) where would it stop? After the Moog One purchase you will be cast into an endless cycle of uncontrollable GAS, at least you know that by investing in your “well being” that the cycle would stop. And you would be free. You want to be free don’t you? :man_shrugging:

Erm, I am GAS free already. Ever since I made the Anti Gas Chamber (Patent pending). Problem solved.

the search for the perfect workflow is my major gas source.

Same here.
i just Bought a 4 channel compressor, it sounded great.
But i didn’t like that i have another external option to manipulate and control the sound, meaning it didn’t fit with my workflow so i bravely unplugged it.

Shit. Didn’t realise I was still suffering so severely.

Even this got covered with a ZOIA, lately.
Every time I got some attraction for a e.g. a Stretch Weaver or any Boutique pedal, I now convince my daemon I can do it with the ZOIA.
That I haven’t even had the time to decently tame, ironically.
