303 addiction

The demo is a bit thin. The 303 can do more. And why only with one hand? But the sound is good, in my opinion. I’m looking forward to seeing more.

Strange that the case kit and knobs are sold separately - what’s the usecase for just buying the boards?

Have you tried Andreas recently?

He’s been offline since December…

not really unfortunately

repair used ones like with dinsync stuff ?

ah yea I guess that hadn’t crossed my mind - so these will slot directly into an OG enclosure?

Acknowledging what you say about the RE-303, but curious to know what CPUs you had in them and what your take on them was as compared to the original CPU?

Nice tune, can hear similar tastes as influences there. Interesting effects on the crash too.

Appreciate your take and clarity on the issues you had with those CPU’s.

I have a Quicksilver 303 and an unmodded unit too. I have been considering options for future RE-303 builds regards the CPU.

You have swayed me toward using the original CPU from the now modded Quicksilver and adding Sequentix mod, something that I had been considering already as a convoluted CPU/RE-303 mash up.

I was aware there were some delays to updates on Pixie and previously there seemed to be a big move away from Sonic Potions as the preferred choice. Not clear where the modding scene is on that for now, I haven’t been keeping up. Cheers.

for the production heads… i’ve been learning Logic Pro and mixing/production techniques generally over the last month and noticed when bringing a couple demo tracks to my tutoring sessions, my tutor consistently advises to sidechain the 303 lines. which at least to my ears when the sidechain is really pumping accentuates the accent notes but loses a lot of the acid subtlety going on underneath. my tutor is coming more from a pop background so i get the advice in theory but i also feel like so many of the classic acid tracks were made long before sidechaining was even a thing. do others have experience/advice from their own tracks? cheers!

Yeah. sidechaining is a specific style for certain types of music. Not a one size fits all blanket approach.

If it doesnt sound right, it isnt right. Trust your ears.

I havent side chained anything on my last 3 albums. Why? Because its not necessary, it doesnt fit the music, and I can mix totally fine without it.

I can see potential use cases for side chaining sub bass, I have done that in the past. But for acid lines, no way. I want as much nuance as possible, I dont eq or compress my Xoxbox. Just a tiny bit of mix compression on the final mix down.

Got a test unit LRB from MSW in this weekend and have been fucking around with it. Super easy kit for anyone curious, just through hole components then calibration. Sounds phenomenal. As good as my RE303 to my ear.

Not to speak for MSW but I would guess the idea with the 3D print enclosure and knobs is that you can customize exactly how you want it to look.

Cool website here by Bjorn for planning the enclouse

Still waiting to get my enclosure in but cant get over how this thing sounds. Also peep the MSW discord server if you’re interested in more info or OS303 development.

Planning to swap the CPU in my RE for the OS303 CPU and will be swapping the dinsync case out as well.

That does sound amazing!

For what case? I thought I read MSW say the RE-303 is not compatible with the MSW case.

i think with the pixie cpu maybe because there is no cutouts for the din midi on the LRB, only TRS cutouts. otherwise should be no difference

is there MIDI implementation on it?

Yes, midi in work great. Also some crazy stuff for addressing the CPU from a web based editor for loading and editing sequences onto the device.
