303 addiction

FYI currently the TT-303 mk2 is reduced to 274 euro on their site

as is the TT-606

I think the deal they offer for the pair is still slightly cheaper though

I am a big fan of modulation FX - and did a short exploration of running an original Roland TB-303 through a BOSS CE-1 Chorus Ensemble - the first FX-Pedal ever being released by BOSS.

A combination probably not prominent as the TB-303 / Space Echo RE-201,
But I especially like the vibrato FX on the 303.
The chorus is my first choice on the guitar.
For me, the 303 it works best in subtile amounts with a bit of reverb (Cloud reverb added on 1010 BlueBox).

That being said: The CE-1 is not a quiet device (even after a professionally done re-capping job - which holds true for many vintage pieces I own).

Surprisingly, the TB-303 (I purchased as a serviced unit), is super silent.

Is it fair to assume that you end up driving the inputs of the CE-1 a little into saturation?
It sounds like there is way more bite than just vanilla 303.

That’s about the same as what Thomann is selling them for now. I have a Roland TB-03 but I’m kind of interested in this one. So this is tempting.

I can’t believe there isn’t one mention of the Future Retro Vectra in this thread. It takes the 303 sound to the next level imo.

Tbh - I kept the input of the CE1 quite low
(You should not see the left LED flickering on the CE1).

Nevertheless it colors the sound.
I think, I will do a comparison video of my 303 arsenal (2x TB-303, RE-303, Xoxbox and Behringer TD-3) soon.

Currently, I have no Idea of how similar or different they do sound in the end .

Best drum machine sequencing the best mono-synth (having the Sonic Potions CPU on board - making live so much easier…)

Acid improvisation on the classic Roland machines.
Recorded in a single take on 1010 BlueBox (reverb and delay added here).

There’s a free (pay what you want) plugin that generates acid patterns for Max4live called Sting 2. Check it out if you’re rocking Ableton. Very fun to bind the generate button to a midi controller and jam endlessly with the 303 and some drums. It’s scale and root key aware and lets you print the midi with press of a button. Also includes some cool performance features such as offset, non-destructive pattern length changing, pingpong or reverse playback.

this keeps needlessly tempting me, thankfully my bank manager keeps talking me out of it.

Sold? It’s not showing up my ebay.

Might be uk only due to collection in person only? If you want me to buy it and sample it for 6 months before sending it on to you let me know.

I couldn’t get this working. It seemed to ignore my song root and scale.

You need to select the root note in the plugin and select the small scale button between root and transpose in the plugin. It was updated to include the scale functionality just couple of days ago, maybe you’re on old version?

I’ll have another go, definitely on new version.

Tested it briefly, but had very sloppy timing for some reason? When I generate a clip with it, the clip timing is correct… weird

Haha, I was actually fantasizing exactly this.

Weird. I can test tomorrow but dont remember noticing any

:scream::scream::scream::scream::scream:
Crazy!

That being said - Iā€˜d probably prefer the OG 303šŸ˜€

You could build an army of X0xbox’s with all the mods for that money. Or you could just build one and not spend 5 grand. Plus you’d get a better sequencer and full midi in out thru.
