I mean I was and nobody seemed to have it but me so I stopped…lol.
I would like to be part of the club but I am on Windows, Linux and iOS…
JESUS CHRIST!
I’m late to this party but this thing is astonishing! You can go from zero to MYBRAINISFUCKINGMELTING in about 5 seconds. Wow.
There’s lots I wish it did but there’s so much depth it just begs for exploration. UI is too fucking small though but

Someone please tell me that what @keygen.exe asked for is possible! ![]()
I don’t believe you can. You can do it with the Step Sequencers (turn down Probability and turn up Addition then hit the Shuffle button (looks like a ‘share’ icon) and that will randomly add/remove triggers from the sequence. Randomizing the sounds like this would be very cool. Anyone reached out to the dev?
Thinking you might be able to do something via OSC as literally EVERY parameter is addressable by OSC messages. I’m not very familiar with OSC but it would seem possible.
Edit: got some basics working though I’m learning OSC by just hacking around
I have a single button in OSC that randomizes the Bitcrush, Overtone and Sample Reduction parameters each time I press it.
Null post to help @neilbaldwin
I’m a computer.
You guys
Can’t help but feel like you’ve wasted one here…
I know but your last reply rese… FOR FUCKS SAKE!
Ah, thanks for showing this. I guess I have to learn how to use OSC…
After a lot of OSC learning and then some LUA learning I’ve got a working prototype for an OSC script that allows you to selectively randomize the synths/samplers in 2020 at the press of a button.
Basically you select the “category” of parameters (e.g. FILTER targets LOWPASS, HIGHPASS and RESONANCE) and then on the right you select if you want to only randomize the values or if you want to randomize the PROBABILITY and RANGE of those parameters that self-randomize when triggered. Ticking the RESET box there and pressing SEND will reset the selected parameters to default.
Took me a good while to figure out a workable approach because there is no global code/parameters/functions in LUA scripts inside OSC (each control exists in it’s own code space as such).
Anyway, I’ve got the GRP-1 devices working (with some deliberate exceptions) so you can quickly do this kind of thing:
If anyone uses 2020 and has or can get OSC/Touch OSC (I use Touch OSC on my iPad) and would like to do a bit of user testing for me it would be a huge help. PM me here.
That’s impressive! Thank you for showing the possibility.
i bought 2020 on one of the initial launches when the year 2020 was still the future.
i had a lot of problems in the beginning and let it go to sleep. i gotta see if i can find it in a hard drive backup from an older computer
i don’t remember what the price was when i got it but can check receipts. …just gotta figure out what year that was
10/10 bought it in the beginning BECAUSE it looked so crazy and i remember dub-russel tunes blowing my mind.
Ended up rewriting the whole thing from scratch as I figured out a much lighter-weight way of simulating global code/variables.
Got the first 4 main Groups working nicely now
And the project has a name: “2020-R”
Can you explain, in simple-ish terms? ![]()
Haha
Well, most of the script code is in the root document of the OSC file and the only script in the individual parameter groups is a small bit of code that interrogates all the switches in that group and passes their status to the root script along with the base OSC.node address for the group in 2020
That way I don’t have to have a load of repeated complex code in every group and can build just a single table of the node addresses in the root document. All this is made possible by building parameter lists in LUA on the press of each SEND button then passing those lists to an event function in the root - on notification() - which builds the full OSC address for each parameter based on group and subgroup partials.
Hmmm… do you have prior coding experience?
I’m doing a bit of simple scripting with TouchOSC, but struggling with certain things.
I suspect your brain must be a bit bigger than mine or something
I do have quite a lot, yes
Probably a bit off-topic but fire in some questions and I’ll help if I can
