2 issues with ar os 1.21

First, a major one, the performance pads do not activate performance when in edit mode. So now I can’t hear what I’m editing. Could be useful as an option but is a workflow killer right now…
Second, i need an apology from Elektron for the 200+ patterns with poorly adjusted fx levels that they just addressed as “fixed”.
No it’s not just fixed, i have to readjust A LOT of fx sends, it is their mistake, at least acknowledge that you screwed up. Yes, more gain for fx is nice. Thanks.
Rant over

There’s something wrong/changed with samples too, I think. The zillamatic’s science lab compo song sounds completely out of tune with the new firmware. Downloaded from here: Download. This can’t be just the problem with new FX levels?
Project preparation after loading seems to take longer. For example, after loading the “Presets” project, the stripes spin near the kit display much longer.

It’s a Beta OS. Do not use for production.

Okay, anyone get that the aftertouch has got the lfo page parameters as destinations? Love this!

I noticed that too when I loaded up Zillamatic’s song, everything is messed up pitch-wise. I don’t have the time at the moment to trouble shoot what is off; it would probably take some time. But considering that he achieved all his pitched “instruments” by grabbing a miniscule section of the sample and looping it, it seems logical that something might be off regarding the way samples align into their slots.

I’m glad that I’m really just getting going on this machine and have no projects worth much at this point. It’s a great state to be in while loading new OSes and playing around with OB. So from my perspective, the new FX levels are awesome - the way they should be!

But it would be annoying if I already had a bunch of good material. Kind of odd that this change wasn’t even documented either. It’s pretty much the most significant sonic change you could make - every pattern sounds so much…wetter. But I guess that how Elektron likes to roll - information kept to a minimum.

Nobody forces you to update and then complain that things got updated.

I also got some issues here. Some saved sounds are completely different. The kick drum I use the most (from the AR808 pack) now sounds like a muffed click.

I’m trying to download the previous stable OS, but Elektron website is down

Who’s complaining? It was an observation. You can go back to previous version, but how long until there’ll be a thing you really want. Backward compatibility is a problem with these things and worth letting others to know.

Thanks a lot for the headsup! I had installed the latest OB build and had totally forgotten that it might hose an upcoming livegig. Just rolled back to the latest pre-OB OS, will reupdate once the gigs have been played

NOTE - ALWAYS REMEMBER TO DISABLE OVERBRIDGE USB MODE BEFORE DOWNGRADING!! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

It is a beta OS. Instead of “ranting” you should have saved backup of all your critical work before installing the OS, and be prepared to encounter bugs and ideally report any found bugs after installing the OS. This is what a public beta is!

Tsutek, where can I find previous OSs?

Does anyone get random purple fantoms lights on set & unset Preference pads with 1.21RC OS ?
Has it already been reported ?

A public beta is also for reporting bugs so they can be fixed so chill, will you? I don’t see people ranting and complaining as much as simply describing their experiences with the OS which should be valuable feedback to elektron.

I don’t need to chill, I am completely relaxed. Is it this language barrier again, English is not my native tongue so this is somehow coming off as stressed out? That was not my intention… just got a bit spooked for a minute about getting myself into trouble needlessly… It wasn’t meant as a “rant” towards Elektron or anyone expect myself…

And what I wrote in caps was just a reminder for anyone who wishes to downgrade (not advocating it), cuz if you forget to set OB off and downgrade, bad stuff apparently happens (hell for all I know it might even brick the AR)

And KOTARE, if you need the old OS’s just PM me, IIRC I have archived all the Elektron OS packages… 1.02D is the latest pre-OB OS I have.

When boosting the FX levels, it was unfortunately not possible at all to make some kind of conversion from previous settings. This is a situation where we saw that a lot of users wanted to change a feature, and the only way for us to change it was sadly not perfect in execution. However, we decided to make the change anyway, since we saw that it was such a big improvement, and would be very useful in the long run.

Sorry about this inconvenience, but we hope that you enjoy the full extent of the reverb, which so many of you enjoy – thanks by the way! I am a big fan of the reverb myself, and am looking forward to be able to fully submerge my sounds in deep(er) space trails. :alien:

Regarding the issue with the pitch changes on the Rytm – Olle is on this, he’s investigating this issue as I write this and it should be fixed very soon.

As always, we are thankful for your input and reports about issues , bugs– and also the good things– brought upon by our beta OS!

Sorry tsutek, not language barrier, technology barrier. I keep quoting the wrong posts on this forum… That line always separates the post functions from the post to a point where I pick the wrong ones.

ahahah :joy:

all good sir, carry on.

Could you tell me the value by which the FX level was increased?
As it would be really handy to know that once I update, in order to use OB, that I just need to turn the FX level on each project/pattern down by (for example) a value of 20 in order for the project to sound as it did before the FX fix

There is no “lower a certain value” and you will get back to where you were. If it was we would have done that automatically for you. This was quite complex with several parameters that interacted with each other. The only way is to adjust it by ear.

Ok. Thanks for clarification.
