I don’t know if they fixed it, but I haven’t had any strange sounds when changing presets. Just putting this out there. Maybe it’s just the way I’m using it.
Someone knows a good midi B to A converter? Or can I just hook the B to any midi cable?
Once it’s in the midi cable, it’s just midi, there’s no different types. The type difference is in the way the TRS end of the adapters/outputs are wired. If you already have A and B adapters for your A and B gear, you just run a midi cable between them. If you don’t have the adapter you could run TRS, but you’d have to somehow flip the L and R between them. At least that’s what I’ve heard.
That sounds logic. Thnx! And Retrokits has a midi a to b I see.
So is it an easier to use Live Looper than the Deluge?
About the same. None of them are difficult. The Deluge has more options and is just overall better for songs and coherence. But the very defined limits of the Blackbox offers some immediacy that some might appreciate more.
I wouldn’t get the Deluge primarily for its looping function, nor the Blackbox. They’re good at it but I don’t think this is what they’re primarily about.
Thank you, this helps a lot!
I just did the same thing today - flipped a few things to get a Squarp Pyramid and the Blackbox. I’m only a 10th through this thread, but so far everyone looks sold on it.
I have since left the Blackbox and now moved on to other places, but I still hold it very high. You’ll love it, I’m sure.

nice setup!
To black box owners: can the audio in be used in a similar way to the digitone? i.e the audio can be run through the device and the effects applied live. Or is the audio only heard when monitoring for the purpose of sampling?
Thanks for your help
Nope.
Yeah, I guess so…But, nt just for monitoring the sample. It has auto monitoring, so in a live situation, you can sample a loop, then when the loop is done recording, it mutes the inputs and plays the loop you recorded.
Hi everyone ! Quick question regarding live recording and monitoring. As soon as I hit record, I hear a click, my audio input gets muted until the end of recording phase. Then I can hear my recording loops and my monitoring is back. Monitoring is on, manual says : On - Inputs always play through the outputs.
Is there something I’m missing ? How can I hear what I’m playing while recording ( without involving anther piece of gear of course ! )
thanks a lot !
I think you just need to set it to auto i the recording screen. Pretty simple. Then it mutes the input that you were recording from.
Thanks, Auto just turn on monitoring when you are in the recording screen. Behaviour is exactly the same.
Are you playing a sequence or song while doing this?
