Hyrule castle spoilers
It didn’t even occur to me until just now that you could do that.

Speaking of things you don’t know if you can do.
I’m a little bit scared of going down into those sand whirlpools close together- possibly because of Final Fantasy 8 where there was an enemy in all but one
It was a pretty intense playthrough so now I’m back to real life. I pick it up every now and then to do some sidequests, armour and such. I havent touched the Depths yet as from what Ive read it’s like a whole other game down there. I’m saving it.
I’m still coming down off the endgame high…will it get in my personal top Zeldas?..unsure
The dungeons are still overall pretty mid. Ganondorf is still pretty two-dimensional (put the writer of WW Ganondorf on all the Zeldas forever). Mechanics are absolutely beautiful, however and other excellent things I cant comment on yet. But it aint Twilight Princess, thats for sure.
My mind was blown by how they experimented with the structure. I thought they would just do another showdown at Hyrule Castle, thats a wrap, lets get out of here.
Nope?! Game still going?! Wow! And that final dungeon area was superb!
I agree. They messed around with all the dungeon sequence structures and I appreciated that a great deal.
The final showdown was excellent ngl. Maybe series best.
Agreed! Way more epic than BotW. The dragon phase of the showdown had such an emotional note to it on top of it being SUCH an experience.
If I have one complaint, it’s that the Zelda situation felt too easily resolved. Kinda nitpicky, kinda not. I mean, sure the end mirroring the beginning of the game was super poignant. And the ending-ending was nice. But I do hate how dire conditions can be just magic’d away like that.
I’ll wait till others around here are finished for further thoughts
Another thing I’m disappointed with- definitely a nitpick- cooking a bombflower should blow up in your face.
I braced myself for impact and all I got was dubious food. Granted, it’s definitely a positive, but still I feel cheated
And on top of that you can eat that cooked bomb food. And be alright.
I was hoping for this too!
Nice to acquaint myself with another video game masochist
try fusing a bomb flower to an arrow in the intense heat under death mountain. I gotta say though, you’re right - this is a bit inconsistent, if the heat of the caves causes the bomb flower to explode immediately, it stands to reason throwing on into a cook pot would do the same… I guess we have to assume that the “cook” dynamic is the prevailing factor here.
Can we agree that the theme music for the battle shrines slaps?
Sorry if this was previously established to be a solid fact earlier in the thread.
I definitely did this as well, wasn’t even thinking about it. Sent me flying down a hill and killed me, I wish I had recorded it.
Agreed. All of the music in this game is absolutely incredible. I think I generally prefer BotW’s shrine ambience, but I do really like the shrine music in this one too.
I won’t go into the details, but I have to say I’m a little disappointed by just how broken Link’s Recall ability is.
I know that in BotW solving puzzles in an unconventional manner was very much part of the intended experience, but in this game it feels like I can break puzzles in ways that the designers did not foresee, sometimes allowing me to skip A LOT of puzzling and opportunities for using creativity, whereas in BotW the “unintended” solutions always felt more creative than the “intended” ones.
Yeah, I can totally see that perspective. I think Recall is great for the open world. Maybe for some of the shrines they should have locked certain abilities
And the dungeons! Locking one ability per dungeon (a different ability for each one) would give the designers more freedom to be creative without having to worry about players breaking them as much.
I’ve just landed in Gerudo kicking off this quest line. Had a cool week exploring around, all towers done. There’s honestly loads more to do. Sometimes I feel like main quest is out of balance with how huge the rest of it is. But I guess whatever after gerudo can hold tight for a bit while I see around a bit more. Still curious about whatever that stormy cloud is over Faron, need to investigate.
Hold off. It’s really hard to see in the thickets of it. You’ll eventually get something that makes you less blind up there during the main quest
