Youtube's auto dubbing is pita

while googling for a solution for the auto dubbing pita, i found that someone just started a petition

since everybody seems to hate that there is no OFF switch, this petition deserves more attention, so here it is

If you only select english in your google account language settings at least english videos do not get auto dubbed.

I’m ok with it. Pairs quite nicely with AI video slop.

i selected English and German but on my Android phone

  • in both chrome and yt videos in both languages still get auto dubbed all the time
  • there is no “play in original language”
  • in my yt studio settings->advanced-> there is no “allow auto dubbing” to check like some solution videos suggest

I have deleted German language in my google settings, as 95% of the videos I watch are in English.

Corporate greed will have no limits. Yet there’s people somehow fine with it. There’s a reason I’m not using YouTube beyond music, old content, how-tos, reviews and the occasional video essay.

But even if used rarely, i don’t want to have it auto dubbed;)

I have definitely stopped using YouTube, except also for music, old content, new content, how-to’s, reviews, the occasional video essay, some news, podcasts, cat videos, dog videos, funny horse videos, music theory videos, music producer rants videos, random tech teardown videos, time lapse flood videos, those 2000-something Japan tsunami videos, old rave videos, 80’s skateboard videos, and 12 hour black screen videos with spacey music to sleep to.

Other than that I never use that sh!t. It’s so lame.
