Your Setups (Part 1)

Nice compact setup–proximity to the radiator makes me nervous… :grimacing:

Thanks! Are you worried about the radiator, because it might damage the gear? Or is it just an aesthetic concern?

Oh, the gear! Especially the Prophet…

Sorry, I’m a noob with synths. Could you explain why? The radiator is mostly not running. But, are you concerned about the dry air or because of the heat?

it´s the wrong place for your equipment

It gives a nice warm sound!

I would definitely try to find a different place if I would understand what’s wrong with the current place. Otherwise, the new place might be wrong as well. For example if I put it in front of a window, I’d expect the same temperature difference or even more in summer. I wasn’t aware that analog synths are so sensitive to heat. Typically, electronic components can easily deal with the temperature fluctuations I’d expect from a synth sitting in front of a radiator. But, then the I really had a lot of bad experiences with the prophet. A lot of bugs in the software and the oscilators and filters have to be recalibrated a lot. Not the quality I would expect from a synth at that price point to be honest. But, it sounds amazing so I’m happy to live with the down sides.

Ideally you would want those speakers at ear level too.

Just about done getting everything wired up again. I tore up the old carpet, repainted, added some new fixtures and a new fan. I previously had black out curtains but I’ve decided to put the sheer up instead so that I can watch the birds, butterflies and other assorted wildlife outside. Having to actually empty the room and then reassemble everything was a bit of work and kept me extremely busy over the last 2 weekends. The Juno-106 is headed to the shop because it has Juno problems. Otherwise, most of the stuff is in place.

Now I look forward to catching up on some tracks by @Scot_Solida @DoS @Microtribe and @Fin25 since I can finally chill.

Cool set-up, what’s the Tracker mounted on? Looks like a futuristic chalkboard or something. :metal:t2:

Curious how you have your keystep hooked up to everything

Looks great. You have some super tasty synths in there!
Is your 106 getting the voice chips reconditioned? I did that once. Half way through I really regretted not paying someone else to do it. Not complicated but super fussy and delicate.

I have finally finished my new setup. It has been either a new passion of mine (woodworking), or a major procrastination from music that lasted 4 months. It all started that I couldn’t find a perfect music table and decided to build it myself. In order to build it I had to upgrade my garage to a wood shop. I had a few things left from my last project of building a bunch of acoustic bass traps for the floor, but it wasn’t as extensive. While trying to build a table (the one on picture is version 3), I learned that I had to build a bunch of tools, tables, jigs for woodworking in order to make the actual table I need. Last picture is the state of my garage now. In the end, I’m really happy with the result. The whole room feels like it lets me place everything and work exactly the way I planned - no compromises.

Yes, ideally I would have them mounted on the wall. Ideally, I would also have a nice big desk instead of this ikea cabinet and maybe even a room dedicated for playing with good acoustics, like many of you more fortunate guys have. But, to be honest, I’m just poor and live in a very small apartment I have to share with other people, so there is not much space. It took me a long time saving up for the gear and I would typically set it all up on the floor and store it away whenever I’m finished playing.

No worries, you have a nice setup and don’t want to add any stress for you at all. I was just thinking they could be raised with some low cost or home made stands or other props. But if you are happy that’s all that matters.
