Haven’t posted mine in a bit. Working on a set for a show on Sunday. My desk is in disarray at the moment.
Now I understand your question. No, I have plenty of reverbs. I was just messing around with reverb tanks and learning more about them because of the Field Kit. Basically I was saying it’s just one more nerdy inconsequential thing for me to be interested in. Kind of like modular but WAY cheaper.
Takes up more space though… I have five spring reverbs at present and all of them have different enough characters to make me feel as though I need each one (and conceivably others). My favourite is probably in an old Roland PA-120 desk that is so absurdly large I can only fit it in my space by placing it on its side on a shelf
Now you’re talkin’! I love big obnoxious pieces of equipment that become part of the decor. If I was single, most of my furniture would be equipment (amps, road cases, etc.).
nice 2 neck pedal steel
)
Ha! Me too! My wife is generously tolerant of what I’ve done to our bedroom as the lack of space elsewhere in the house has necessitated that all other previously available rooms now have children in them (3 of our 5 children are still of the age where they live at home and the house is far from huge).
Given more space I dread to think to what extent I’d indulge myself though!
Yeah I gotta know if the pedal steel ever makes it in the sets for sample fodder or if it’s an entirely different pursuit. Rad pads?
we have 5 too!
Starting to experiment with it as I’ve only had it a few months. Definitely will be used for ambient work and sample fodder. I made a track a while ago sampling some chord changes off YouTube, and has been jonesing to own one for ages. Can’t even describe how fun and wild it is to play
The magic number! Have any of yours shown an interest in making music? My youngest son and daughter have keyboards (not synths, but it’s a start) and my second youngest son has an electronic drumkit. None of them are interested in recording music at all, though (yet - hopefully)
Whoa, way to break it down at 1:50 and on. This would be nice in a live setting. I’ve also had a pedal steel curiosity for awhile after falling totally out of love with acoustic guitar timbres, but prohibitively expensive at the moment.
Thanks! Yeah, I was lucky and got it for a steal. Probably too five years of waiting to find such a good deal
The oldest (just turned 17) is interested in “making beats” which I guess means he wants to make hip hop/trap. I’m not gonna pass judgment but I did set him up with a little recording rig in his room. I can’t really show him how to make that kind of music but I can show him how to work the gear and then it’s on him to put the time in. The other ones are not interested yet but they’ve been around instruments and gear their entire lives so maybe. Honestly, I hope some of them are interested in getting rich and taking care of their poor parents.
But the 17 yr old has a 2012 MBP running Logic and FL Studio with a decent condenser mic and an iConnect AUDIO 4+ interface. I also gave him an M-Audio Oxygen 25 that was sitting around gathering dust. If I would’ve had a setup like that when I was 17, I would have been making music 24/7.
So much this. When my youngest 2 boys were younger they shared a bedroom (flat our refused to be apart) and, at their request, I put a little setup in there with a desktop PC running Ableton Lite, a pair of speakers and a controller keyboard. I gave them a Wacom tablet for animation too. Ultimately they never really bothered, which is 100% fine, of course. I’m adamant that I won’t be pushy, but I will happily enable at any and every available opportunity!
My 16 year old daughter loves playing keys and she knows that she has access to hundreds of £s worth of apps on her iPhone via family sharing. Maybe at some point she will do.
Nice setup. How do you like and use your Warps? I also have an all mutable system and this was on my list, but sometime I feel a little “moded out” and Warps seems like the granddaddy of multiple modes (other than Plaits).
I haven’t even tried harmonic oscillator mode on stages because there is still so much functionality I need to explore
After getting the Moog and Pyramid it was time to rearrange the setup.
There are 2 Doepfer passive mults on the KB37 so that the pitch, mod wheel, at and velocity outs are to be accessed from those, thus releasing the mults/mixers on the Matriarch for other duties. The KB37 is basically an extension for the Moog with another arp, modulation and stereo effects for further processing of the synths.
Its always so pleasing to have everything nicely in order, even just for a brief moment.
The next step will be building bass traps for the corners because this isn’t quite optimal for mixing yet.
Am I blind or did you sell your Perfourmer? Or is it just not in the picture?
