thanks for the confirmation!
As in 2hp small? Maybe an After Later Mult or similarā¦
An envelope follower (Ears if you can find one), sample and hold (ADDAC dual S+H is a good choice), switched mult ( for routing signals to different modules) some LFOās (Zlob diode chaos might be a good choice) , thats my initial thoughts anyhowā¦
For anyone considering Ears (which is an awesome contact mic, amplifier, envelope follower, and gate extractor), check out this version with switches on the front panel ā basically lets you adjust the envelope shape and gate threshold without having to take the module out and fiddle with the jumpers on the back. (Note: Iāve never actually used this version with switches, only the original Mutable version, but I did often wish I could tweak those settings without popping it out of the case.)
I was thinking about this and is it not going to be annoying that it will send out a gate and envelope when you flick the switches?
Hmmm, I feel like you could prevent this by turning down the contact mic sensitivity when you flick the switches, but maybe I donāt know this module well enough. (Or, conversely, crank up the mic sensitivity and use that switch-flick sound as an audio source to excite something like Ringsā¦)
But yeah itās a good question, Iām not sure of the answer.
using the switch flicking as an exciter for rings is a good call, and yes maybe turning down sensitivity would work, it would actually be very easy to build a 2hp switch expander module to do the same thing as these switches do
Funny you should mention a 2hp switch expander, I have the vpme Six Switches expander for Euclidean Circles, itās great for what it is but Iāve often wondered if those switches could be used to connect to other kinds of modules.
I emailed Vlad of vpme with a few ideas ā what if you could connect Six Switches to a module with 6 inputs/outputs and use the switches as mutes, or connect them to a precision adder or clock divider of some kind.
He did not reply to my email which I assume means he was so blown away by these suggestions that he got right to work on my ideas and has been working on them ever since.
haha yes! great idea, maybe have a word with divkid
I have the 1hp PequeƱo Interruptor, which has six tiny switches on it that work with 2-pin or 3-pin jumpers. I originally got it for the jumpers on the back of the Doepfer Quad LFO. It comes with a bunch of the needed cables. I took a brief look at Six Switches when I got it, and it seemed to me that it was using the same sort of pin arrangement, except it came with a bundled cable.
1hp you say? Did Teenage Engineering get into making modular stuff?
No, this cost me $40, not $400
Got a few additions; the panmix, befaco out and voltage block. Iām freakinā loving this thing at the moment. Really hesitant about what modules to get next though. Got 12hp left and I am really craving a wavefolder I think, not sure which one. But the plaits clone can definitely be a bit too sterile (although the c4rbn has wavefolding but something with more control would be nice). Maybe another voice? Dare I say; more utilities??? haha. Iām definitely craving a sample and hold at least⦠Too many wants, too little hp.
As it stands now, Iām having a blast with this thing. Advice is still very welcome though.
Beautiful.
Looking into Bifold or WMD Ultrafold myself⦠I think theyāre both great.
Wasnāt there something new from Joranalogue?
Perhaps Ruina Versio if you want to ruināya bank account.
Youāve got three voices already; I donāt think you need a fourth. If you want to swap out Plaits, people like Klawis Twin Waves (digital) or Noise Reap Paradox (analog, I have this one, itās good value). T43 is small (4hp) and might be fun to play with your V/oct. Joranalogue Select 2 has two S/H, switching, and a bunch of other useful stuff in 6hp.
Yeah, itās probably the joranalogue vs the tenderfoot fold for me atm, if it were to be a wavefolder
Was checking out the select 2 and that seems really interesting. Thanks for the tips. Iāll surely do some more research on all mentioned.
An Instruo Ohcd would fit nicely in there for some modulation.
Ivāe been blown away by the Quad Drum these past 24 hours. Itās absolutely amazing throwing your own samples in there and manipulating them. You can save like 64 setups (more than enough) and have them instantly recalled at the click of a button.
Ivāe had it hooked up to the Erica Synths Drum Sequencer but I feel it would be better suited to something like the Varigate 8+ so I can do all that random stuff.
Iām really thinking about buying a second Quad Drum itās so inspiring I had it sussed out in 24 hours. Only thing is that it lacks is that it only has 1 cv but it has everything else. Iām sure I read that there was gonna be a cv expansion module?
Anyways Iām gonna spend the next few days crafting my own samples in Logic and dumping them in the QD and Sample Drum.
The Erica Drum Sequencer is very very good but for drums only IMO hence Iām debating on getting the Varigate 4 or 8+ for special duties.
