Agree. I got the Mordax - Data, felt like a frivolous purchase at first. Ended up helping me out quite a bit when I can’t figure out what’s going on. It also offers clock div/mult, and osc.
Waiting on the Erica drum mixer and mix/splitter v2 coming tomorrow so my drum/sample case will be finished. Ordered another TTA Mantis case to fit the Osc/Env/LFO and other future sequencer modules. I’ll be able to jam along nicely on this little set up for now. Happy!
The new Korg nts-2 scope is a cheaper 0-hp alternative to Mordax Data.
Make Noise confirmed what they told someone here some time ago, seems a batch of LXD is hopefully expected around summer, nothing till then.
A new batch of Optomix V2 is out since recently, for EU people it’s in stock at Schneidersladen already. I’ve ordered one
I think you´re going the right route here with focusing more on the CV side of things instead of Audio…
My current itteration of my rack has ONE audio source (well LFO´s can technically be OSC´s as well but still) and the rest is CV for that audio source and it is honestly the most fun I’ve had with Eurorack .
Just exploring CV modulation in unusual manners is the core experience of Eurorack for me
The Data has 4 clock dividers, which I use a lot. You can also use CV to change the clock divisions. And two oscillators, that can go down to “LFO”. 4 in, 4 pass thru, 4 outs.
It’s nice being able to monitor 4 voltages at the same time.
By ya reclaiming some HP would be nice. But it looks so sick in the rack
I built a little custom USB powered box for my Data - means I can move it easily between rooms. I modded it further from that picture and it now has a disting mk4 and breakout on the back so I can do CV → midi
Has anyone had the chance to work with this one? I have no particular interest in going eurorack but this thing on it’s own seems like a powerful tool to have.
I might buy the Keystep Pro again. Had it once before thinking that would get me into modular quicker, but sold it quickly after going another route. Maybe now that I got eurorack things might change.
I’m 100% set on buying the Sondforce modules to get a full voice Juno and the S-LD module.
Edit: Also adding the Befaco AC/DC (or something larger) so my iPad & computer can join along. Befaco Hexmix for mixing. And OUT for headphones and main outputs.
Not sure about the bitbox yet, but I’ve added it for now.
Has anyone had experience with the Intellijel 1U scope? I have been thinking of adding it to a rack I am building but it strikes me that the screen could be way too small to be really useful
Here’s an odd question… would it be possible to fit 500-series modules into eurorack format? I noticed both are 3U tall… it would be cool if someone made a sort of adapter that connected to the rear to allow for audio I/O and power interfacing so it could be “retrofitted” into euro. This is what had me pondering it:
Hmm in/outs are all on the back of 500 series stuffs cases so I guess someone would have to make a converter module to sit along side it for io. After that issue, it is possible the power draw is just too high I’m not totally sure on the compatibilities in that area.
I’ve had one in my rack for a few years. Can’t believe I haven’t sold it yet as it never gets used. Screen is too small and it’s just not very good, IMO. I kinda think it sucks
Yeah, probably just having a Radial sidecar of modules would make more sense.
But as far as I/O goes if the power could be made compatable, something like the Mazzotron Patchbay could be utilized in euro.
Besides needing to sort out +/-16V and +48V, module depth is probably going to be a factor that 95% of cases aren’t set up for.
There are lots of smaller (~3 slot) desktop 500-series racks/power supplies on the market if you just want to use a handful of modules.
Mine main case is in the 5% haha…
But as we were both posting at the same time, a sidecar would be way simpler.
Right on
Here is my 84hp rack which I use with a Sequential Pro 3, I started it because I missed the preamp distortion/overdrive from a mackie desk and the Feedback Pre-CR is absolutely spot on. After that I decided to try to get a decent selection together for processing external synths and drums.
Edit: I’m thinking to add some VCAs next which will open loads of possibilities up, and for now I’d like to concentrate on learning the ES-3 as a modulation source.
Are there any small utility items I could look into to that would help a small setup like this?
