Your modulars (Part 1)

I put 3U of modules away to create this slightly more focussed system. The top row is a take on a Buchla-style voice, with a sequencer, envelope generator / modulator, complex oscillator, LPG and a spring. The bottom row is what I tend to take with me when travelling, and is great for complex generative feedback patching. CV.OCD means I can keep everything synced up, and the Rytm and Digitone mean I get some proper techno going.

Did anyone find videos on the new xaoc stuff? Only found one video on sofia thus far.

I’m having issues with my new Muxlicer and Mex. Sometimes once every few times it doubles fires other modules from a single gate/trig. I’ve seen some older mentionings about this issue on other forums, but I think I read that was supposed to be fixed. I’m not a member there so checking in here:

People here with the same experience?

I was in contact with Befaco but they asked me to send both modules in to the retailer so they can send them to Befaco to start trouble shooting, see if they need repair, etc. But I’ve done a lot of tests today and it keeps happening, with different modules, fed by different clocks, etc. And I’m afraid from reading older forum posts on WM that this is not faulty units but just overly sensitive or specific gates that the Befaco’s send out.

So I’d rather just return both now I’m still in my two week window of return policy this week… People here with experience with this issue?

Haven’t encountered this.
When it happens, does the respective gate LED flicker, too? (like in Gate Mode)

Very squelch. Did you record this?

My travel modular techno case is working out great so far:

I love using it with my Endorphin.es Shuttle System and ALM Busy Circuits Super Coupe.
Once COVID ends and clubs host jam open mike nights again, it will be my main tool besides Elektron gear.

this is my other small modular groove box so fun too!

some nice acid bass and Infected Mushroom tones there buddy! I dig it.

Glad there’s someone here with one too.

When I have steps on the Mex in the middle, or to the right when I’ve got the Muxlicer ratchet knob turned to off (same: no gates) sometimes the step still triggers the module it feeds. Led doesn’t light up. If I feed the Mex out gates to open up a VCA directly, the retriggering actually never happens. So if my thinking is correct, the muted step doesn’t really send a gate erroneously, but the previous gate maybe has a bad ending edge or something?

I’ve tried triggering LIP, Modbase, and Delta-V. Some seem more sensitive to the retriggering but it happens on all of them…

The really sad part is that I’m vĆ©ry happy with the Mux+Mex. But I’m in this stressful timeframe of being able to just send them back in the next couple of days, or get them to Befaco to fix / replace, with the potential outcome that they’re still overly sensitive / incompatible with my other modules, but that I’ve lost the opportunity to just return them to get my money back…

If there’s a realistic chance that it might be helped by replacement units, and not just being a recurring issue, I’d love to keep them cause when they work I really love them

Good to know of the issues and how these Qu-bit modules behave. I love my Qu-Bit Mixology mixer that has sends/returns,. mute and solo buttons, and sliders. Super easy, fun to use and looks great.

The spurious gates come from the Mex only, or both?
You don’t have a scope by any chance?

that looks like a very inspiring set up, nice choice of modules

No scope unfortunately.

Weird thing that I’m currently finding:

When I clock the the Muxlicer with my normal clock, the retriggering from the Mex sometimes happens.

But when I clock the Mex (Gate In) with a clock from my Mimetic Digitalis it work good.

But when I use the Mimetic Digitalis to clock the Muxlicer, it doesn’t pass on that ā€œclean/rightā€ clock internally, so the issue is back.

Out of curiosity, does it happen if you use Muxlicers All Gates output to trigger/gate the modules?
What about its clock output?
Weird, but looks like this narrows it down to a problem within Muxlicer, not Mex.
I would probably send them both back in your situation.

I’m so getting that new Linndrum module!

Interesting, how do you think it’s with the Mux not the Mex? (If I clock the Mex directly, not the clock via Muxlicer, most clocks also end up with errors)

Another question, now we’re talking:)

When I use the Muxlicer as sequencer, the pitches vary, especcially if I use a bigger range. Let’s say I select one of the 8 steps with the Run/adress knob, and trigger it with 16ths clock, the steps continuously vary in pitch up and down a bit. Or if I slide all sliders up fully, continuous pitch changes. Is that normal? I think I read somewhere to feed the All In a steady CV, which solves this issue. And indeed that works.

Yeah I think I don’t want to deal with being in the loop with Befaco and MusicStore trying to troubleshoot and fix my modules. I’d rather just return them. Maybe buy two new ones at another store (or the same, but I don’t know if they’ll ask questions then?). And if the issue is similar send them back again.

What’s your power situation like?
Perhaps a little maxed out?
Could also explain this behavior to some point.

Yeah can understand not wanting to deal with Music Store.
But you could probably send it to Barcelona directly, I’m sure they would take care of it.

Sidecar completed. All the stereo processing stuff- Moon Phase, Veno Echo and Beads.

Noise section also finished also with the Afterneath added (damn that’s a bright LED!)
