Mod Medusa is exactly what I’ve been looking for… well deffo keep an eye out for it
I did get the Doepfer 138s (vintage) for drum mixing as well. But I realize now that I would like the pan to be cv controlled.
The 138s now has found a new purpose as a 4 channel mixer with a send channel instead, very handy!
(Still looking for a compact 4 channel mixer with cv control over panning.)
Yeah it would be nice to find a mixer with cv control of panning indeed. I just like the look of these Doepfer ones at the price although I don’t yet rule out the Erica Drum Mixer & Mixer Lite yet…
I just ordered the Befaco ST Mix & Out 3 this morning. The idea was to get the Doepfers x3 and feed the stereo outs in to the ST Mix then out of there in to the Output module. Trial and error tho so I’ll see if it works, if not I’ll just get other stuff till I get the right setup. I’m very very happy with my latest purchases tho
I’d wait for the ACL Quad Wavetable LFO.
This is what I’m playing with right now. Its not too crazy. I had a MUCH larger system, but it was getting super out of control. Earlier this year I told myself if I was going to continue modular, that I would limit myself to 6U and 84HP.
Its surprising how much more I actually create with a more focused and less crazy system!
fav modules are “triple sloths” and the Acid Rain Maestro, but only with its paired with attenuation!
I like the art on the blank panels on the left. Where they from?
im not exactly sure who the artist is, but I got them from Perfect Circuit. I also really like the artwork from Materia. I have a bunch of their panels too, but none fit in my box rn
Art is by MarkT.
@rob_lee The Roland 503 has CV over panning.
A few others that do too:
Throwing another CV-over-panning module out there, DivKid’s new channel strip might do the trick: DivKid Stereo Strip - VC Channel Strip – Control
The Acid Rain Maestro attenuation built into recent latest firmware update is useful, but not great, does save the need for external attenuation sometimes though.
At only 16hp the Panmix from Happy Nerding looks like a great choice for what I’m looking for.
so ive decided to take a little left turn regarding my modular.
i have some spare modules in my closet which ive tried to sell but no one seem to bite.
so instead i bought another POD and purchased a trig31 module ( 4hp cv-midi module by vpme)
My main rack consists of Assimil8or with some modulation and midi modules from flame, with these two i can set up my OP-Z to sequence the assiml8or very effectively. in this case i have 24HP left which im still undecided on what to do with, im still very much thinking modulation or some sort of stereo dynamics effector (katowice maybe) stereo filter maybe or mixer… Thoughts and tips are very welcomed.
My second is a 48 hp FX rack with a matrix mixer for some feedback patching and a compressor in the end of chain. main thought is to use it as a send fx from my TX-6 or use it with the big case.
third and final case is a 32 HP trigger to midi case, which i can either use as a sequencer for assimil8or or a sequencer for a midi device (in my case mainly Syntakt).
it has a midi in module and a midi out module so that it can easily be integrated in a non modular setting.
the main idea of doing this split is to be able to be flexible… sometimes i just want to rock out on my Syntakt so then i can just drag the 32 HP case out and jam with it and my Syntakt.
other times i want to utilize the flexibility in Euro FX and Erbe-Verb is probably the coolest effect ive owned.
other times i want to make weird beats on Assimil8or…
So my hope is that this will add alot more flexibility to my Eurorack adventure so that i can easily use it in different settings without taking up to much room.
Been having a lot of fun since getting into modular. The vastness of sonic territory one can cover is truly beguiling.
Here’s a little piece I made for a mesmeric place called TeamLab in Tokyo.

And here’s the case so far
I’ve also been moving towards smaller functional units that can be used standalone or combined. Currently I have one 6u x 104hp and two 3u x 104hp (not all full). Each has at least a complex voice, function generator, mixer, and headphone output. I find it psychologically easier than viewing them as 12u. Even if I have them all in one place, I might only power up one or two to start with.
yeah exactly! i love the idea of having sections which can be seperated for other use cases.
i mean i could take the trig31 into my main case… but it would feel like a hassel to drag out the main case just to sequence a midi device…
I kinda went that route too… two racked TipTop HEK’s for mono noise/percussive sources and a “sidecar” Pod48X above for stereo fx as a final stage to sampling/recording.
I’ve seen some people have a “modulation skiff”. I tried that for a while but it wasn’t working for me. Nice to be able to just move things around in such situations!
The SSF Vortices looks great and thanks for the heads up about the ‘clean’ version of it coming out. For 16hp this thing seems quite nimble - I like it : )
I wouldn’t necessarily need the mixing functions to be voltage controlled, Its more of an ergonomic thing and just having it right there in the case.
I might have to just get a cheap standalone mixer first to play around with and figure out if and what kind of functions I would like to incorporate into my rack. Maybe EQing isn’t the thing I should spend knob-space on.
I like this idea - I’m about to expand again (getting rid of Octatrack for a probably-too-expensive second hand Assimil8or - your posts might be partly responsible for my GAS on that ) and debating upgrading to one mega case or having everything in separate focused cases. Space is a bit of an issue for me, so having components of the system available to move around would be pretty useful… Hard to think of a thematic way to break it all up that wouldn’t end up frustrating me though.
