Your favourite clipper and why

I’ve started to use the clipper in logic pro when shaping individual drum sounds, but it’s not very precise as one can only adjust gain in 0,5 db intervals. It’s probably not ment for being used as a clipper only, as it is a secondary function in stock compressor.

I wanna purchase a clipper plugin that’s suitable for both individual drum shaping and drum bus, and also for master and groups in general.

What’s your favourite clipper and why?

Wahl is definitely the best “choice.”

Check new Ocelot clipper and their Limiter. I like them and use them recently on all tracks

I use eventide elevate bundle, i belive the cliper is called punctuate - really a good clipper, it has also preview what it actually clips. The rest has a 24 band multiband compressor, which can learn an EQ curve - i use that also as bus compressor or on the master now and then to even out the signal. (I use the clipper all the time, the other stuff is a case by case usage.)

I use Kclip, newfangled saturate, or the Ableton saturator clipper depending what I need done. I find kclip most transparent and customizable. Newfangled sounds a little more aggressive and can be fun when pushed quite hard. It’s apparently the same algorithm as in the elevate bundle mentioned in the above post, just in its own plugin. Stock Ableton is just quick to use and low cpu.

V-clip sounds good as well I think

And I forgot to tell why V-clip. Because it’s very simple and sounds like a clipper that clips !

I mean, it’s a very basic clipper that does its job, which is nice.

Kclip zero, because it’s free.

Also, the clipper in FL Studio is popular.

WRT Logic not having the granularity you’d like, remember that clipping is a function of the level. Placing gain before the clipping circuit gives very detailed control over the amount of clipping applied.

With that in mind, every saturator/distortion effect is technically a clipper. I tend to use Saturn for this just because I love the variety and sound of its “circuits”.

That’s essentially what the Akai soft clipper is afaik except it’s multi platform…

I heard the Akai one doesn’t sound as good.
