Ah nice, yeah I saw him at Sonar around this time with the same show, it was awesome! Especially as it came at a time where his DJ sets were pretty… meh… so it was nice to see him do something to my taste again.
I think I told you before but I stood next to him once at the V festival watching an entire Luke Slater set In the dance tent, it wasn’t busy and I turned round and he’s standing right there with his glasses on era, I was awestruck and didn’t say anything. I think he was on later that day.
Is Aleksi Peräla minimal?
He’s pretty rad, at any rate.
Aha that’s ace. Used to be a big Hawtin fan in the early 2000s and chatted briefly to him a couple of times at events, seemed a nice guy!
Cool, I’d only seen him in magazines and stuff and this was late 90’s, I had to look twice, wish I’d said hello now
I hadn’t looked at this thread as I was thinking I was pretty well versed in minimal techno… however having read through I can safely say that we couldn’t be further from consensus if we tried. I’d make some suggestions but I suspect I’d just add to the (my!!!) confusion.
not rly dark, but a cool minimal techno track
this one has nothing to do with minimal techno (or maybe it does? ), but its a cool techno album to listen to on headphones
I’d recommend Ricardo Villalobos for spacious, minimal techno:
Another poster mentioned Recondite whose early releases I would also recommend for your request. This is airy, ambient techno. If anyone else can recommend more music like this, I would be very interested:
just google vengaboys we like to party. you can thank me later
Oh how could I forget the Vengabus?
Danny Tenaglia’s Athens mix is one of my all time favorites. The first CD has a lot of great tracks that may interest you.
EDIT
I’d like to add a couple of my favorite against the clocks as I think they are absolutely splendid.
interesting. comments turned off for those two Against the Clocks. I guess cuz it seems like they had patterns already programmed in advance. figure people musta been calling fowl heh.
Dark Techno…keep checking this YT channel. lots loaded here every day. lots of misses. but the hits are pretty good.
Efdemin - Decay is an amazing album. Deep, minimal, beautiful.
Probably among my top 10.
Aren’t the comments turned off for all of them? I thought they decided to do that because people kept being terrible, bitter, jealous assholes. I think it started with a female artist doing the 10 minute challenge and viewers leaving sexist remarks.
With that said, I’m not sure of the exact rules, the only one I know of is that they’re allowed to preselect samples. Ohs wells. I’d like to see more people jamming out on their gear, improvising. Perhaps they should let them have a little bit of prep, as watching someone spend half the time setting up their sequences, isn’t the most enduring of experiences.
Whole Mantis series is amazing, one of the best things that came out last year.
I remember way back when ATOM started out by making bootleg remixes and giving them away. There was some really great remixes, and now look how they’ve grown.
Very nice!,
And check hate lab @tumulishroomaroom just got an ep on there
