Though I love the RYTM 1 and its form factor. Love the Digitakt. Like the Syntakt.
Sell the RT 1, keep all other boxes and save some money for funding the difference between RT 2 and RT 1.
DT is a MIDI monster and ST is more a synth. I would never sell them.
this is the way.
lol - ouch, I’ve got an emotional softspot for the RT 1.
Would feel so bad sending it alone off to the farm whilst the new kids on the block survive.
I suppose what I’m hoping to hear is if I cull them all, and get an RT 2, I’ll not miss all 3 too much as RT 2 does it all…
Why, the RT1 is almost functionally identical to a RT2. There are differences sure but do they currently limit you?
That’s a further good point!
@mokomo Does TE K.O.2 or SP 404 MK2, Syntrix II, Perkons HD-01 etc. make your music better? NO, only different.
Does someone understand and appreciate or love your or my music more due to new gear? To be honest in my case: NO! NO! NO!
RT2 isn’t much use if you want to sequence other gear with it, note only, no ccs.
The Digitakt-esque functionality and I think the pads might be better.
Still not wild about welcoming a new form elektron into the house. I like my rectangular slabs.
Keep your slabs, the MKII pads are meh. They are functional but not really playable.
I think you will end up frustrated and disappointed if you expect the Rytm Mk2 to replace all three of those devices.
Unless you have a desperate need to downsize your setup, it seems like a big downgrade to me.
thanks - seemed like an idea on paper, but by the time I’ve crossed all the secondhand sales mess and unless I find a decent sendhand R2 … let alone I end up with less.
In comparison to M+ or MPC pads they are indeed… a little bit meh when it comes to finger drumming. Thats why I tend to activate fixed velocity.
However for selecting and overviews on tracks, mutes, scenes or performances they are great and I always miss them on the small DT or ST boxes.
I personally downsized to a Rytm 2 from a Digitakt. Haven’t owned a Syntakt, but haven’t felt the need for one with my Rytm - yes knowing the Syntakt can technically do a lot more. Rytm is such a keeper, no matter what workflow I’m using.
Will that be enough for you? That’s up to you for sure, but was enough for me.
I think it really comes down to I need to study Digitakt vs R2. i.e. is the R2 equivalent to a Digitakt plus R2 offers lots of other things (not least analog filters)
Feels like the Digitakt may be a step ahead in some features, but haven’t been tracking the R2 development too closely.
They used to be equivalent aside from some minor things, then the slicing update to the Digitakt brought a lot of new stuff that never made it to the Rytm.
Keep what you have long live mk1s.
Not wanting to hijack the thread, but I was wondering this earlier today and it seems like basically a similar question asked a different way…
But buying new a Rytm Mk2 and a Digitakt/Syntakt combo come in at a similar price and offer kinda sorta similar features.
Ignoring the extra voices and midi capabilities of the DT/ST combo for a second, what would put the Rytm out in front in this comparison?
the analog filter always did it for me
Per voice filter or on the master?
what would the mk2 brings the mk1 does not? Sampling? Compared to the DT, the ARmk2 is lacking a lot of new features and mk1/mk2 are the same when it comes to handling samples.
