Anyone knows anything about what is behind the visualizer stuff? I mean is ther all it is to play or is there a specific graphic language as it is mention some Open Source
Whatās the verdict on the Seqtrak as a casual couch jam instrument?
The Seqtrak is better to use when itās on a table. I find its sharp edges too uncomfortable to hold in my hand. You have to press the side buttons firmly, but this is easier when the Seqtrak is standing on a table. So no couch work with Seqtrak for me.
I love (bothā¦) of mine.
Wouldnāt take it out of the house as itās flimsy as hell, you also have to hit the keys dead on from above, rather than on the edge, as sometimes it will not read the note if you donāt.
Once you learn the key combos, itās really intuitive, but if you use it along with the app, you can really push the sounds.
I purchased a second one as I really like it, and I assume my original will not last forever. The price has been discounted recently - so they might be discontinued soon.
I also have an OP-XY, which obviously isnāt comparable, but I love the sounds of the seqtrak, and you can get something going really quickly.
I dream they will re-release this in an aluminum case, proper build, and I would easily pay Ā£600/700 for it, itās my favourite little groovebox - wish it was strong enough to take it out and about - I suppose at such a cheap price, currently Ā£169 here in the UK, you could risk taking it out.
Recommended!
Can you remove that unsightly fabric tab
Sound good, I might try it for the price itās at now, really seems like it does all I need as a sketch tool
Sure, why not. I have a 1/8 stereo plug next to my sofa chair that goes to a monitor since the built-in speaker is not the best. Itās easy to build some quick beats on it and then mix it up. I hold it more like a clarinet using both hands due to the way the buttons and keys work. Or hold it up. Itās not great just on your lap because itās not heavy enough and you need both hands.
Before going stand-alone, youāll want to spend some time choosing the sounds you like using the iPad app. Afterwards, spend some additional time in a well-lighted area learning the buttons and shortcuts.
I wonder if thereās bigger Yamaha tags you can get. Like one the size of a CVS receipt
ha, Iād be up for this.
Itās just so random that they would decide to use a fabric tag, like how did they arrive at that idea? I sort of love itās just for this reason.
Well, you could screw in any desired fabric ribbon in place of the Yammy tag. Maybe attach the Seqtrak to your hairbow?
They were thinking āoutside of bento boxā. ![]()
I think the Seqtrak is a perfect couch device. I place it on my lap, just with a pair of headphones, and compose and jam away. I keep a usb c cable near, because to record I just hook it to my phone. Also if I need to use the app (but I donāt use it much really, mostly for preset / project saving, even for sound design I donāt use it much)
In general I think the seqtrak punches way above its weight, literally and metaphorically. It must be said I got it for around 200⬠new in a recent sale, which makes it an incredible bargain, but even at the original price I think it delivers a lot.
The sounds themselves are excellent, the pianos, basses, brass, strings, all of it sounds good. The fx are versatile, and great sounding.
The workflow, for live playing and jamming, really works for me, the way you change the patterns just makes going trough a song in one sitting a pleasure, I donāt even use the song mode, I just play live.
The keyboard is a bit weak, and the lack of velocity for the synths hurts, but I find the stock presets are very well tuned for it, and you can go a long way using alternate legato and staccato notes for nice effect. Of course, with a Arturia microlab 3 connected (this sort of device having usb host capabilities should be mandatory by law, such a great convenient feature here) it opens up a lot and the pianos, basses etc come to life.
So yeah, I love it. For reference, I have the circuit tracks, the rhythm, and an TE Ep-130 KOII. I think the seqtrak beats them all in the couch jam machine perspective, even if the others have other things going for them.
Just for a bit of fun I collected some tracks entirely made with it, only external processing was to normalize the levels with a touch of compression in a daw before publishing.
Whatās the best portable drum machine/groove box under US$320 and why is it the Seqtrak?
All joking aside, unlike some complainy people, I actually dig that thereās a button dedicated to each drum part (bass drum, snare, etc.). Makes it easy to select, edit the sound, and create the pattern for it. You can make a beat with this really quick. I really see it as a drum machine + Reface DX
I got one last week and absolutely love it. Iām contemplating getting a 2nd one (as backup) but keep talking myself in and out of it. Trying to justify it to myself. I recommend everyone grab at these fantastic prices. I feel it may go down as a classic in years to come.
Iāve realised that people just love complaining about what something isnāt, rather than appreciating and enjoying what it is. As the iPad is my main music creation tool, Iāll be exploring ways to integrate them together.
Should I get a 2nd one??? or save my money and buy a decksaver!!
do it! I got a second one as I love mine so much, and at the current price why not!
With a new one going for 175⬠Im almost thinking I could get one for modding. Extra battery, change the key switches., have a sort of backup.
How about something like this (not mine)?
