Yamaha SEQTRAK

Barely, I mentioned it upthread, but basically a little better than a Volca speaker. Very poor bass even for a small speaker considering how other small speakers can sound.

Cheap build quality was the last thing i was expecting from yamaha, and the only thing that kept me a tad intressted if it wasnt that bad, but no go then.

The black look kinda retro-ugly but ok but the white-orange really look horrid to me :scream:

Also, to buy stuff only to return them doesnt seem like sustainable thinking to me, just sayin :smirk:

I know but I’m not lucky enough to have Guitar Centers & such around me
You mean financially or environmentally?

Also, there are high chances I keep it. I was just saying I have a safety net just in case.

The key question are you keeping it?

Oh, you can edit chords on the device itself. DOPE

Yeah, the next place that has actual electronic music gear is 1.5 hours by train, + ~1 h from and to the train station. Sometimes it’s just not easy to figure if something works for you or not just by the reviews and impressions.

Same here.

The black one does look very 80’s, the white looks very IKEA to me.

Agree, I won’t be returning mine unless it was/gets faulty, I mentioned the build quality so that others can decide for themselves before buying.

Yes, very happy with everything except the build quality, I’m pretty careful with my gear so it isn’t a big issue for me - no way would I want to gig with it, not that I do gig, but it would not last IMHO.

So it’s also a USB C Midi Host? :exploding_head:
If it powers my Launchkey Mini MK3, then I don’t care about how crap the plastic is

i have been looking for an easy to use hardware midi-visualizer for quite a while now

wanted to get an eyesy from critter & guitari but they seem to be discontinued and you need to be able to prorgam if you want to make custom visuals

the seqtrak’s visualization feature might actually be the one to draw me in - but as you said, only if it allows to feed external gear through it. if that’s the case, i’d buy it in an instant

So honestly, I keep reading the PDFs on Yamaha’s website. The sheer amount of Rompler type instruments are awesome if you’re like me and use strings, mallets, and shit like that.

Also the effects and routing is worth the price. I mean, you can use the sampler track as Live Audio Input and process it through the FX chain. and it has all your lo-fi usual stuff like vinyl sim, amp sim.

I think I’m loving this already.

So I keep reading this

And it looks like you can P-lock almost everything

Oh you did not know that? It being both was one of my hype moment, being able to I’m getting confused what you where expecting it to be, those documents where there from the first day

I’m mostly still confused about the possibility to pair it with koala.
Have koala send audio to it, while using the line in and midi to control koala and sample into it.
That would make for perfect symbiosis and while I’m ok with koala for sound design, I don’t like it for playing and sequencing or trying to fill it with natural sounding samples I have to find. The seqtrak would be used for that part. And if I would be able to Also have a villa or something other provide through the line it, then I’m okay with all those compromises.
Then the sampling/granular weaknesses would be covered by the phone, and the more live tweakable sounds by external gear

Then my question from before stands:
Plocking and motion recording is on the same ā€œlaneā€ going by the manual, one overrides the other. So how ā€œsmoth*ā€ is the motion recording, or is it jumping in steps?

I just didn’t read it at first because I was busy.

What I also already like compared to the cycles: way easier to pick out your favourite sounds so you don’t have to go through the whole list.
The fav category is a great thing.

how do you p-lock all those extra parameters, thru the app?

edit: I didn’t have my glasses on :joy:
that’s just the regular list of parameters. I guess you can access them all on the unit?

Hold the step while adjusting them

not what I was asking. cheers tho. doesn’t matter

AFAICT you can’t plock or automate the fx sliders* or sound locks.

Edit
*You can for single fx though, but not master fx.

Edit2 But you can midi CC automate the 3 faders, so much fun to be had there!

a few new li’l youtubes popping up today.
