Anyone using one of these with their Elektron gear? I just picked one up cheap, and it seems like it will pair well with my Octatrack. For those that don’t know, it’s the rack version of the RY30. It appears that all of the parameters that the RY30 mod wheel controls are accessible via midi CC, so I’m looking forward to some p-lock madness. Also thinking about using the outputs from the Machinedrum to the trigger ins of the RM50, but I’ve never set up something like that and don’t know if there is something I should be aware of.
Yeah I have an RM50 tricked out with 3 ROM cards and the Sampling board (and a couple of RY30s).
Fantastic sound and more versatile than the RY30s but a pain to program.
I haven’t tried hooking it up to the Elektrons yet but I really like your idea of running into the Triggers! Please post back if you get it working.
I’ll probably try triggering it from the MD after I’ve had it for a little while.
I’m still working my way through the manual, but it doesn’t seem completely awful to program from the front panel. Easier than my TX81Z, anyhow. I may finally pick up a BCR2000, as there is a template available through that (not to mention templates for almost all of my 80s knobless wonders).
It looks like the CC controlled parameters (Filter, Modulation, Decay, etc.) can all be controlled simultaneously at least, which I’m hoping will make it pretty versatile combined with the Elektron sequencer.
Just got this yesterday, and I’m really surprised at just how good it sounds. Still learning to navigate it, but paired with the Octatrack this thing is killer, especially using the arp and transpose to create all sorts of variations.
Of course, I couldn’t leave well enough alone and snatched up a Roland R-8M for $61 that will be arriving tomorrow. So much Warp drum goodness
